I am deciding which set-up would sound better, 2 12W0 jlaudio subs or 2 infinity kappa perfect 12.1 subs, the infinities are slightly more expensive but not much.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Infinities get my vote. and if theres a recommended ported box for those, definitely go for it, theyd beat the jlw0 hands down IMO. If it were w3v2s then I might reconsider though.

I'd say in either case the cabinet will make or break it .
"sounding better" is a matter of personal choice/opinion, put either subwoofers in different cabinets and each will sound "different", which will work better in the car you have, with the amp you plan to use is another set of factors into your question.

Well the power handling on the Infinity subs is much better than the W0, the JLW0 is their entry level sub, the Kappa Perfects definitely aren't.

Thanks for the replies everyone. The reason I asked is because they were in the same price range. Now if I wanted to save up a little more cash I could look into deciding between 2 Jl 12w3v2 or 2 infinity kappa perfect 12vq which are infinities newest sub. Any opinions on that set-up?

Or is there any other recommendations in this price range? I am all after SQ and I heard the infinity 12.1 subs sound real good. Are the 12 inch Alpine type R's and good when comparing to a kappa perfect 12.1?

Thanks again.

What amp are you going to be using on them?

I will be using whichever amp will bring these subs to there full potential. So assume all these subs will be powered appropriately.

I'm running a pair of 12" kappa perfects with a kicker kx600.1 amp, and they sound amazing. They get loud, hit hard, but also sound great. I have heard most JL subs, and I would definately go infinity over JL.

You said in your first statement you wanted to know which one sounded better so assuming you want it to have very good sq properties I would go with a pair of Image Dynamics IDQ 12's.

If you want it to sound decent but get louder then go with the W3's. Not as good sounding IMO but they will get louder.

Ported enclosure with either setup. If you don't have the space to go ported then go with a single 12 (recommend RE XXX, Adire Brahma, Orion H2, etc) and give it lots of power.
