jl subs

kay so has anybody had any first hand experience with the w6's and w7's??

i would like sum advice on this one. i drive a standard cab (dodge ram 1500), it has lots of room behind the seats, but i only wanna run one sub off a 500 watt amp. also, what size would you recommend? 10 12 or 13?!

also, would the alpine pdx 1.600 run the sub the same as the jl 500/1 ? like sound quality wise? or should i just stick with the jl amp?

any help and advice would be great guys!

Had a pair of 13W7s in my trunk. It was ok. Way better subs out there though for the dollar.

I bought these on a wicked deal for about $500 each, but for 5 bills there a better built, better sounding woofers out there.

The screwless mounting system made it difficult to reverse mount the subs.

The bass wasn't accurate nor loud from what I was expecting. I was expecting the best sounding sub in the world with all the hype around the W7.

The box volume requirements were quite small, which was a +.

Power capabilities are limited to get some sickening bass.

w7's lack true fidelity, w6's are the way to go if you want the best sq... I have 13w6's, and couldn't be happier. Ive have Image idqs in the past and id max's but the best sounding imo is the w6!

do the 13's have a good response? cuz some of the music i listen to has
pretty tight bass lines, but i still want the output. so u think i'd be better of with one 13, or two 10's???

I'm going to have assume you mean the w6v2 not the w6 as its discontinued.
I'm impressed with the 10" w6v2 in my car, more then enough bass with the 500/1 powering it and a ported box. One of those in a cab of a truck and you will be happy.

ya thats the sub i mean, its just easier to type w6 haha

and i will probably be going sealed since its in a truck. but i was thinkin since

ill likley be using the 500/1 amp, i may aswell use its potential on the 13

rather then the 10........cuz it poweres the 13 to its specs...

I'm happy with a 10w7 now on a 600w amp, and it can get plenty loud for me. Used to have IDQ, Brahma, XXX, Arc 12 before this one.

as for the woofer size, go as big as you can fit in the box for.

10W7 ho box

same here, with my 10w7 in an improvised HO box,I could not ask for more inside my Prelude aside from having a bigger car, for my car can'nt hold on the SPL with closed doors but the SQL is deeper than those I had heard. If you want loudness, forget W7,if you want DEEP bass,go for it!!!
