Glad to see people STILL think the W7 is the end all of all subs.

The W7 is like 4 years old and there's MUCH better subs out there now....why spend big bucks on an old sub?

Yea it's loud and gets deep, but for the money, I'd put a Focal Poly Kevlar 12" up against the W7 and walk all over the JL especially with 5-600WRMS and sound much better tonally/dynamically(sp?)

Not saying the W7 sucks, but there's better out there for less money.

obviously it's not the end of it all in subs. It's nice. Very similar to the subs that I used in the past performancewise , and those do cost less than a w7.

But wait, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about cuz I've been running internet-boner-brands mostly and have not had a use out of the godlike products like focal .

As far as walk over talk. I like to see measured data. Walk over is a strong statement. If it's a matter of personal taste, I'd say Fukypups walk over all subs in the unverse ha! year right.

It doesn't look like w7 has been measured "independently", but I hope the data pops up soon.

ok, so after reading all these replys, and doing sum more research, i think im gonna stay away from jl. so what are some models that would compare to the w6 sound quality wise, but still have a decent spl. i was looking at the CDT HD line, and they look decent. has anybody heard these subs in person!? what about RE or Image Dynamics?

im likley gonna be running either two 10s or 12s (have to measure my truck) off of an alpine PDX 1.1000

A few companies to look at would be

eD
RE SE's
RD Classic's
Image
SI BM's

Something of that nature, you only need something to handle 400-600Wrms each. All this companies I mentioned make some stellar subs.

ya i was lookin at the re se's, they look decent

i really want some more info on the CDT's though. they cover

10 - 400 Hz. some opinions on them would be greatly appreciated.

i think i'll be picking between the re se's, the CDT Sq's, or the JL w6's

people who can't afford jl will always bash it
its like saying a mustang is better than a ferrari

i personally would buy from a comapny with a reputation of making great sounding gear
over a flavor of the month internet speaker company that will probably not even be around a year or two for now

Im not saying they are bad, and they may be worth the coin but there is cheaper alternatives to expensive gear. But I do agree to a certain extent.

im pretty sure all the bashing was on a prive vs. output standput
most people are saying you can spend less and get better and for the most part its true. the price vs. output of jl stuff is just not huge.

and think of it this way. with a ferrari you get 600hp and 12000rpm's for like what over 100 grand?
ok now the reverse is you can buy a stang and modify the out of it and lets say the car is 30 grnad brand new for a v8 gt. comes stock with over 300hp at the crank. you can throw another 50 grand into it and have something like 700-900 hp. im pretty sure a stang is then, and only then, way better then a ferrari. and plus everyone knows the ferrari is not the be all and end all of cars... the ultima gtr is.

you "can't" modify a sub, so that example is not on point. tell me otherwise .

anyway, the OP decided to look elsewhere, so there's no sense of discussing this particular sub anymore.

i'm not sure on w6, but it would be considered overpriced among it's competitors wouldnt it? how much does it run for authorized locally?
