sorry jules, I didn't realize that you HU had those capabilities, i'm not familiar with eclpise HU's at all.

I bet you find the stage widge seems like its 2-3 feet wider on each side?

I would just like to recommend a couple of other things...

First off, try flipping the eclosures to the opposite sides and have the tweeters to the outsides of the pods, and try to direct them at your ears, and try other things as well. evry car is different but, the same comcepts usually apply. where your speakers are placed is where the soundstage ends, so you want to get those speakers as far to the sides as possible, at least this is what my experiences have been.. I have found that having the tweets on the outsides of the pillars helps with the stage width. so that may even open it up higher than it already is since you put them up on top. if the drivers are off axis, try flipping polarities around as well, especially on the tweeters, that may help as well, or not, but you never know until you try. if the drivers are on axis I find that typically find that the polaritys on the pillars pods are usually right without playing with them, you should only need to delay the left side a little.. you may also want to try reversing the mid bass polarity especially on the right hand side.

are you going to the ontario finals, my Truck will be done by them, I would love to meet up, and have a listen, you have some real nice equipment its always nice to listen to a nice set up.. you can have a listen to my Truck as well, their is a few people that want a listen already, everyone wants to hear what the Hybrids L8's have to offer..

Gumby - I'm unsure what you mean by flipping the enclosures? "Do you mean put the 4" as far forward as possible and tweet closer to me? Basically a 180 flip is how I took it!

Also I was thinking of putting the 4" in the kick again with the 6.5" and the tweet in the factory tweet location! The width will be as far as possible but I'm worried the stage height will be a knee level yet again! The current temp location house Air bar just above and I have to be carefully they don't tear off in an accident!

I can see where going active will help in tuning and overall sound - If I can do it without plopping $2000 on amps, interconnects and major installation - I'd do it! I'm going to take my chances with this new setup and go from there!

try taking the enclosure that you have on the left now, and move it to the right side, and move the right enclosure to the left.. my wife has an 08 civic so I am farmiliar with what you are saying with the airbag. heres another thing to try, if you are worried about the air bag. keep the 6.5 in the door, also try putting the tweeters in the stock spot in the door, and take your 4's and wrap them in small beach towels, put themin the stock kick area, like where your left foot would be resting when driving, point it straight facing eachother, just as I recommended wih the tweeters. this will help with the width, but we will have to see what the tweeters sound like in the doors, im not sure how high the stage is going to get, but youll have to be the judge.

also make sure you are using high quality recordings while doing your testing, not mp3's on anything silly like that, ok. The focal test disks are awesome for high quality recordings, in case you didn't know.

Gumby,

I always use reference discs for setting up my systems - Mp3s @ 320k for daily through IPOD!. How much air space do I need for the 6.5" - If I decide to go to the kicks?

See you on the 17th of August!
