It has an a/b stage output on it. Which will cleraly send a signal to the speakers. He said he wanted a cheap 4 channel SQ amp i gave him a suggestion. Pretty much all amps are mosfet supply even with higher price tag amplifiers (1500$) so please tell me how someone can get cleaner sound for under 200?

Just to add 90% of amps are Mosfet/pwm power supplies, the only differnce is the topology wheter it be class a/b, d, so on so forth, and whether they are regulated unregulated. The rare intanses of different power supllies is in rare amps themselves, audison for one.

Yup..but quite a few cheapo amps use mosfets on the output stage..I pulled apart a dual amp before and it was mosfet output. That model might be different then.

for under $200.. good SQ... USED is the only real solution. Shop around for a good deal from a reputable seller.

Hey buddy, I say again, you already know what you want to do and you're on the right track. Just buy a good brand used amp or something nice on clearance. I am sure you will be able to get an amp in your price range, it just won't be very powerful, but I am sure it will be good enough. By the way, all the people that say all amps are the same and power is power are just people with cheap gear, and convinced themselves that it is all the same, and are more than happy to throw in the Clark amp challenge, as if it is their Messiah. Unless your friend wants to become a laughing stock by his peers, and will forever have to start his sentences with "But Richard Clark said...". There are many many factors why you pay more for an amp and why the performance is much better, but I am not having this conversation again, as I have had it a million times. I am not here to argue, but give good advice to the best of my own personal knowledge and experience. Make your own judgments, Franky, and I am sure you will come to the right decision.

Franky, here is the latest bickering on CCA over amp vs amp vs power vs power garbage

http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/onli...od-amps-2.html

And pay attention to comments I highlighted below for realists. Only I mixed up Meade with Clark for a moment.

"That stupid challenge is a marketing tool for Steven Meade is it, which is schoolbook to get a rise out of people, so his name will be burnt into your memory, and he gets to be famous and remembered, so he can make more money, and people believe anything they hear. It's something similar when celebrities need to be on the news just to remind everyone they exist, and it does not have to be good news. No such thing as bad publicity, anything shocking will work wonders. And this amp challenge shocked car audio fanatics, but mainly people who dont know any better, those who do are not affected by this non-sense."

"So, no, I do not think all amps sound the same, and who the heck will take that Meade amp challenge? Who will make the time for you? It is not a like making a Dr's appointment - "Hi, I am here to take the challenge, here is my health card" That is just ridiculous, and anyone who believes that needs to see a bigger picture."

And I believe, if anyone who took the challenge and won, would be payed extra to keep their mouth shut, so that this goes on as controversy and keeps giving Clark more exposure. I will grant him this that most amps do sound pretty much the same, or very similar.

Ahh Mr.Clark the man who patented the clear elastic tape at the beginning and end of cassettes so that they wouldn't streth when you rewind for fast forward them.

Anyone else know that this was his claim to fame in the audio world.

lol, I did not know that. But the tapes still stretched, especially the higher capacity ones over 90 mins.

BTW, I just peeked at your profile - Steg and Focal - not to shabby, my man I still haven't found a place for my Arc 2300 SE. Do you like your Stegs? They seem to be pretty rare for reviews. I dont know if you noticed same thing I did, that the Stegs are more trebly and Focals sound balance tips more towards the mids.

I Find the Focal amps to be alot warmer sounding, I've swapped amps back and forth a few times and the Focals are better in the SQ department, but I've never ever had an amp with as much ***** as the STEG. it seems to never ever run out of power. It's my beetle now runnign a set of Focal 165V3E's and a Focal 33V2 (rear channels bridged to 2 ohm mono and was putting out 39.8volts before it the RTA could pick up any clipping. (At least 780Wrms) Not bad for a 4channel .

Also never overheated or went into protection and it's kinda burried with fairly minimal airflow.

The sub enclosure is the spare tire well and the amp is hidden under the carpet
