I am looking to upgrade my home theatre speakers. While purchasing a set of Scan Rev 15W mids for my car, the seller recomended I look at the Lucidity Deluceo kit offered by Creativesound.ca for my HT setup.

http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=DILUCESO

I had planned to build my own using the Scan-Speak Revelation kit offered by Solen.ca, but the Deluceos are cheaper and the cabinets are already built. Does anyone own a set of these or has anyone auditioned them? They are a DIY set, and Creativesound.ca is based in BC so I can't really listen for myself since I live near Toronto. The same thing goes for the Revelation kit offered by Solen as they are based in Quebec.

He also mentioned I should go for a pair of Lucidity Criterions as well for rear surround.

http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=CRITERION

Has anyone auditioned these?

Thanks
Dan

Damn 840$+shipping+tax for the Lucidity Criterions, I think for that price I would be more apt with a tower design speakers make it look like I spent my $850+ wisely.

I'm just curious why you feel that way. The drivers and parts are of good quality no? And the cabinets are included as well.

IMO these kits offer more value than any complete retail speaker around that price range. Unfortunately I can't listen to them before buying. Creative Sounds does offer a refund if you aren't satisfied, but I'd have to cover shipping both ways.

Do you feel the Scan-speak Ultimate Revolution kit is more value?

^ If your looking at the solen Revelation kit, then i would suggest you think about the Thor by seas instead.. Solen sells this kit as well.. Its a little cheaper then the revolution kit, but is designed by D'Appolito himself and uses the seas millenium tweet.. I have more faith in this kit turning out well then the Revelation.. And i feel is a better value then the Revelation or Lucidity.

also there is the designs at http://www.audiocomponents.nl/

I built the adire kit281's a few years back.. turned out well.. If you need someone to build finished cabinets, send me a email heres a picture: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member.../134143_98.jpg

couple things to keep in mind.. Do you need them sheilded for a/v use? Will you need center/surround speakers? if so then look for kits with designs for a center and surround speakers.

Having heard them a little at Al's (RAW Acoustics) meet, the Lucidity speakers are very nice, imo.

Anyways, compared to the "finished" versions of the speakers on the CSS site, the "kits" aren't that much cheaper... I'd email Bob at CSS to see if the prices are correct.

Thanks for the info. That cabinet looks very nice BTW. I might take you up on your offer if I get a kit that comes without the cabinets, as my woodworking skills and access to equipment are lacking lol

Would you be able to recommend some nice theatre kits? I will eventually have a 7.1 system for HT. Shielding shouldn't be a problem, as I will bu running a front projector, so all the AV equipment will be in the middle to back of the room.

If the speakers are only for home theater then my OWN opinion is you really dont need a super high end speaker, like those your where looking at (1200+).

Something like:
www.gr-research.com (they make the Lucidity) like the av3's etc..
www.adireaudio.com kit81's,281's etc (What i have)
or vifa premiums like http://www.audiocomponents.nl/speake...remium_eng.htm

Alot of the high end kits like the seas thor, and Lucidity dont have dedicated center channel kits.. but you usually can buy single cabinets, but your left standing them up vertical instead of on its side like a typical center channel.. Not that thats all that bad..
