Lucidity Deluceo HT speakers vs Scan-Speak Revelation

I'm not saying they are bad and the components look decent but it still seems that 40-50% of the cost is the cabinets which, as a woodworker, I don't place a lot of value in personally as I could make them for the cost of the wood.
That and I have found some bookshelves out there in the $600-700 range that can eat up $2k speakers. Thus these at $800+ would have to really wow me considering you are eliminating the retail markup, putting these into the $1200-$1500 bookshelf category comparitively.

For the Lucidity pair of speakers:
The Eton drivers are $156.71 each at Solen (4 of them)
The tweets are $229 each at CSS (2 of them)
That's over $1k for just the drivers already - add in box and crossover......
Maybe it's a decent value for some, not for others. Know anywhere you can get the components for cheaper?
I'd probably want to build my own cabinets too.
Dukk, which bookshelves are you talking about?

I was looking at the $839 Criterions he mentioned. The tweets you can buy right from CSS at $109 each and with $156.71 for each mid you are at $531.42 so lets say $600 for parts retail which I guess is 'only' 70% of the price of the speakers.
That's kind of pricey for those drivers too but hey - we're keeping it at online retail levels...

Online retail prices are the only way I can get drivers.... can you get them for cheaper?
There's also the cost of the crossovers... which can get expensive, depending on the design.... oh yeah, and you have to pay for the design of the crossovers too...
Not saying that the kit is a good deal - just trying to outline the costs if I were to build one myself...

If I looked I could get them for cheaper - but the point was keeping it at online pricing levels.
Crossovers can get pricey but they don't have to be. IMO the copper foil inductors they offer are a waste of money.
Of course design costs can come into play as much as the retailer wants them too. I wouldn't suspect it took more than 1/2hr to "design" that entire speaker and play with it a bit too but again, that's an opinion.
If you think you'll like them, buy them. I was just offering an opinion.

^^ And that is exactly what I was looking for, opinions
Do you have any suggestions of other quality home theatre speakers? I have 6.1 capability now, but will have 7.1 in the future. And shielding is not an issue, as I will have front projection with all the AV components in the middle to back of the room, away from the speakers.
Can the Seas Thor kits be ok for HT? I would maybe get the Seas Thor for front left and right (as I will sometimes listen to music), but need suggestions for the other 5 speakers, as well as a sub.

heres a link: http://www.solen.ca/trym.htm
As for a sub.. Anything including:
Adire Shiva, tempest, Sadhara, tumult or:
parts express Dayton line or:
Stryke audio AV series or
blueprint would work well.
I use a tempest, but the ported box gets BIG

If not, than are there any suggestions for cheaper rear surround speakers?
And thanks for the info thus far
