Mad midbass installation !

Well, I started work on my midbass installation not too long ago, and here it is.

Well, last update I did was here, when I got my mini-subs up front... but ended up going another route...
http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/online/general-sq/30867-800w-frontstage-anyone-p.html

So, as the setup stands, here's what I have.

-- Speakers --
Tweeters : CDT ES-010
Mids : CDT ES-4
Midbass : CDT ES-06 (x2 pairs)
Subs : CDT QES-1220 (x2)

-- Amplifiers --
Tweets and Mids : PPI Ax400 (4 X 50W @ 4ohms)
Midbass : Soundstream Tarantula TRA800.2 (2 X 400W @ 2ohms)
Subs : Clarion DPX11500 (1 X 1500W @ 2ohms)

-- Source and DSP --
Alpine DVA-9861 Headunit
Alpine PXA-H701 Processor w/ RUX-C701 Controller

-- Power --
2 Runs of positive and negative 1/0AWG direct to battery and using stinger dist.blocks. for frontstage amps with 8AWG and 4AWG.

Well continuing from where I left off in the last thread, I did end up with the 06+s in the back of my front doors. But, ended up changing the setup quite a bit.

So, here it is continued....

I don't have any pictures of how I got here cuz my camera died on me. Needless to say, cutting metal is fun !

I started prepping the doors for fiberglassing. Started off preping the panel by cleaning and scuffing it with rough sandpaper.

Next, I applied some contact cement to the panel and MDF board I had previously cut out from a stencil I made of cardboard. Sorry, forgot to take the pictures of that.

... and, stuck together.

Here's what I got so far with the panels back in place. Speakers aren't back in though...

Ok, so I got some really thing MDF and made a couple of "plates" that I taped over the speakers.

Next got this really super sexy pink stretch fabric that I hot glued to the back of the door panel.

So we got this viewed from the front.

Then, remounted the panel so the fabric would stretch itself over the speakers (that are protected by the MDF plate).

And one good coat of resin and fiberglass mat. Once cured, panel is removed.

Next went the kitty hair to give it it's shape kinda...

Forgot to take a pic of the kitty hair sanded down to shape but oh well. Next came the putty.

And here's the door sanded down to it's final shape with body filler.

Next, I removed every connector and trim piece from the door.

A little bit of tape to protect some areas...

I didn't take any pictures of the contact cement application, or laying down the vinyl...

Anyways, here's the door back in place...

I don't think that you have anywhere near enough mid-bass there. Lol. So how does it sound?

Are you putting power window motors in? The picture makes it look like the window winder will not be able to operate properly.
Nice work.

Well, let's put it this way... most of the time, I just shut off the subs cuz I don't even need them. I had enough midbass before doing this, but my goal was more to give the system that extra low-end extension from having more surface area up front. So, basicaly, I have one preset where I Highpass at 36hz and shut off the subs completely.

The idea behind this is that one pair sounds great, but they start rolling off so I was highpassing them at 56hz. But, with a second pair, I could now lower the overall signal going to the amp by 6db and EQ in an extra 6db in the low end where they rolled off before giving me extra low-bass extension, not necessarily more volume.

When looking at it straight forward, you can't see the orange at all... I'm planning on getting some weather stripping and putting it in there we won't be able to see it anymore from any angle.
