wow!! I hope your not looking at spending 1000 on hertz 2-ways..I have the 3 ways and only spent 350 brand new. helped that I had a friend that was an installer at the shop. But he told me that list price was 750. this was 3 1/2 years ago as well.
Oh, and by the way...I love these speakers, they are incredible.

i actually have two of those sets listed in my car. (baby milles and polyglass)
the hertz mlk-165 are unbelievable, i chose them over k2p's because they are much more natural sounding, not a bright as the k2p. just a personal preference.
the polyglass series is very nice for the money, but i'd still recommend the hertz over them.
custom auto radio in whitby carries focal, and hertz/audison if you want to audition them

Maybe you broaden your search. And mlk165.2s are supposed to be properly tuned and amplified. Also Hertz has more of a line up then just the discontinued mlk165.2's. focal is great! But Hertz is better.

I would try and listen to the elates, mt 23 tweeter is quite airy and i think it really does a nice job of resolving detail without sounding unnatural like the k2p. I have no use for the milles, never liked a set that I heard. Haven't heard the new focal set yet.

Overall tho, listen to everything that you can.

For a two way system

I think I would opt for Focal, which is hard to beat, and has proven itself
over and over. The Hertz are also very nice, though I have not really heard them to date.

I do have some experience with the Morel Elates, which are way overpriced as far as I am concerned.
They also have an issue with the fact they have avery low Qts, so the midbass sound in a avg door app is not very warm,
and they also have limited excursion, so you really cannot cross them over below 75 Hz, or they run out of excursion and distort
(same typical issue with the Dyn's).

All things being equal, a larger VC is nice to have, but the length also plays a factor in how much thermal abuse they can take,
and of course how far they can travelw/o lapsing into distortion.

Keep in mind that demo boards in stores are really only OK for tone of mid and HF, since few can replicate the acoustics
of a vehicle, esp the off-axis and impact of the midbass being mounted low and in a door enclosure.

That's my .02 cents on the options here.

Good luck!

Rick

The milles ar great speakers, but don't plan on using them in the cold.
