Question My timing...

Alright, so I am getting closer and closer (though I am still really far away, haha) to having my system done. I THINK I only have one question left (that will probly change as soon as I run into another obstacle). How much do you guys think 11 feet of speaker wire will slow down the signal? I mean, my amps will be in the back of my car so the signal has to travel all the way to the front doors. This means that my speakers will be later than my subwoofers. But then again, my subs are in the back meaning it will take longer for the audio to come up front. Is there any way for me to estimate which signal will hit my ears first? There is about 7 feet from my subs to my ears. Do you guys think the bass vs mids and highs will be that far off?

That is exactly why good decks come with built in time alignment.

Speaker wires to your front doors will be an imperceptible delay. Electricity travels close to the speed of light, 186,000 mph, minus propagation delay, so about 90% of that.

Sound from the rear will be delayed. That is why you need time alignment to delay the front to match the rear. Sound travels around 750 mph.

I set my alpine for 1.2 m to subs, 1.3 m to rear and .8 m to front. It does calculations internally, changes that to milliseconds of delay. It seems to work. You can set left and right differently if you want to optimize drivers’ position.

I am not sure, lol. It is REALLY short so when I heard that the length of the wire does not matter I was happy because my head is pretty much the same distance between the speakers and subs. And that means the car is really short cuz the subs are in the back and the speakers are by my feet. Haha.

$90 for fill in my explorer, $35 with my cavy. Speaking of which, I figured out my sub box won't fit in my trunk, so I'm doing what any sane man would do and plasma cutting the car frame to fit it in there, then welding the frame all good again. Thieves are gonna be soooo pissed. Haha

Hahaha, YES! That is awesome. I had to do a little cutting on a friends car to get the sub box in but I did not have to weld anything back on. I would enjoy watching a thieve break into your car.
