Ok, so Im going from a dual 12" box to a single 8" sub mounted in the rear quarterpanel of a wagon.
Im going for a custom sealed enclosure inside the quarterpanel, so it will be small, like .5 cubes. It will also need to be fairly shallow, about 4" depth.
I also want decent volume out of it, so Im looking for one that can handle 500wrms at 2ohm, so probably a dual 4.
So far the only shallow 8" subs Ive seen take about 150w, which is not enough. Are there any subs out there that are kind of in between a monster magnet spl sub and the weenie 2.5" deep shallow subs?

the new alpine type r shallow mounts are very well built woofers. what makes or breaks a good shallow mount is its ability to stay cool.
now i know they dont make an 8", but the 10" would work perfect in .5 cubic feet sealed

Thanks, the mm840 looks pretty good, with some good reviews. The specs though seem to say the DVC isnt quite as good as the SVC. 180w vs 250w, 85db sensitivity vs 89db. Maybe then I should do the single 4ohm.
Now to find a local place to have a look at one.
