Need Advice On New System

I just bought a 2011 Hyundai Veracruz and am obviously not happy with the stock stereo in it. I have it booked in to have the front speakers replaced and amped next week. Would like to add a second amp and sub to go with it as well. One stipulation I do have, in order to keep my wife happy, is that it has to be a stealth install (stock head unit, amps hidden, no big sub boxes in the back).

For the fronts I was planning to go with a pair of Audison K6's run off of a bridged Audison SR4 amp. The speakers are rated at 100w and the amp will put out 175w to them. A little overkill but I don't want to run the chance of sending a distorted signal.

Now for the sub I am pulling my hair out trying to decide what to do. I need to keep the stock head unit so I was planning on disconnecting the rear door speakers and using that as the input for the sub amp, allowing me to use the fader on the deck to adjust sub levels. There is a spot in one of the rear panels for an 8" sub, but it doesn't look like there would be a ton of mounting depth. Not sure how difficult it would be to have a shop cut it to a 10" opening, which would allow for a few more options. Also not sure how you turn an interior plastic panel into a half-decent sub enclosure. Still a bit nervous even with the standard install being that the vehicle is only a couple weeks old.

I am looking for a good SQ setup but want it with enough headroom to feel a good punch from the bass. I was thinking in the 250-300w range for the sub. To be honest, I don't have a lot of experience with sub power ratings so I'm not sure how much kick a sub in that range would have. Listening to them in a store is obviously very different from hearing them installed in a vehicle.

In my other car (Mitsubishi Eclipse), I am running a pair of Morel Dotech Ovation 6's off of a JL Audio 300/2 and a Polk SR10 off of a Pioneer GM-D8500. Love the bass from it, although it is a much smaller vehicle and the sub is installed in a proper sealed enclosure.

Would appreciate any thoughts, advice, or recommendations on this system.

I Just set up a car, similar size with the Audison K6's and found that one sub that actually sounds great with them is the Image Dynamics IDQ10's. It's an incredibly accurate sub. I myself actually prefer the extra bass out of the IDMAX10's but they require a lot of power. Another brand to check is the Arc Audio Arc 10's, they're pretty good from what I've been told. I myself have decided that I'm going to try DD Audio subs for both SQ and SPL combined. For amps I'm running Audioque which are really nice and clean amps, but for what you want you may want to try the Audison SR1DK which is about $500 bucks here in B.C. and that would match your system and give nice power output as well.

For stealth a Alpine pdx-5 would give you about 150/200 watts a channel bridged depending on its own birthsheet, and 300 watts for a sub, its a small amp and runs nice and cool usually. Image Dynamics IDq is an excellent choice for an sq 10 with some decent output. Alpine has a shallow 10" sub, stereo integrity has an excellent shallow mount if you can find one. I imagine looking for a sub with higher efficency will give you more output usually with the 300 watt power range.

the pdx is a good amp but there not the best sounding, if you can run the audison active to the speakers the extra control will make them sound amazing, for a nice efficient woofer the new focal performance series are very nice for the price

I use the JL audio HD 600/4 on mine which gives 150 watts/ channel clean! It is small enough to fit under the spare tire or under a seat with no problems. The only subs that I know of that are good for a stealth install and still sound good are the JL audio 13TW5-3 or the kenwood excelon KFC-XW1200F. I don't know many other subs out there that sound good for a stealth install other than a Infinity Kappa Perfect subs which could be run free air on a baffle across the rear cargo area. If done right they sound incredible and accurate.

how about a hertz hi energy hx250 10" sub for the rear? single 4ohm youll only need around 3-400rms. highly efficient and sound great. and then to match the sr4 get an sr1k

Thanks for all the advice guys.
I ended up going with a Hertz HDP4 Amp (still can't believe the power output for the physical size of this amp)
Running 150w x 2 to the K6s on Passive Crossovers and 500w x 1 to an Alpine Type-R 8"
I was really limited on size for a sub box in order to make this as much of a stealth install as possible. Had a custom .3 sealed box made for the 8" and it works great.
Also, just ordered an Audison BitTen so after I do some tuning I'll find out if that sub meets all my bass needs (so far its really impressive).

*** Original post was under wrong user name(didn't realize I had two names), this is the one I use on other car audio forums to keep it consistent, sorry if any confusion ***
