In my Jeep I have the 7894 deck, Clarion mids and tweets. The 6.5" is in the door, the tweets are mounted high in the kick area. I never found the time alignment to be of much use when I used the 4x6's in the dash, and 3.5's in the kicks. Now that I have the mids and tweets set up, I can tweak the time alignment and hear the sound going from left to right. It seems to work well, and the sound is much more balanced with a proper mid/tweeter setup. My .02 .....

A simple deck, a clean look, great performance, fairly reasonable price was the formula for sucess for the DRX0255, the McIntosh, the Denon Z1 (OK not the inexpensive part), RF 2000 series.

I saw it........... kind of plastic-y, but nice. I think it has a digital out too. I'm SUPER impressed that Clarion re-issued this deck. Awesome stuff Clarion.

Time Alignment.......... DWVW mentioned something really important. Hope ya'll caught that one. It was a long time before I realized that trick. FURTHERMORE, it's not all about path lengths. That may be important but it's only one piece of the puzzle. Your path lengths may be great but if you have a big centre console and a large over hanging dash, that may trap your lower midrange and midbass in the foot well and good luck to you. PLD's is not the be all and end all to system design. There's lots involved beyond what is mentioned here.

I know the advantages and disadvagtages of Time Alignment, I don't hate it just for the hell of it, I don't like it because I know what it's all about because I've played with it and researched it. It's the cheaters way out, for people that can't get their car imaged for whatever reason... Many people LIVE by TA which is a shame....sure, when used properly it can save a lot of time and can be very useful, it also takes the fun out of building and tuning a proper system.

Back to the topic please.

A car is an inherently terrible place to attempt great music reproduction.
Time aligment is simply a tool that overcomes some of the shortcomings of installing a good sounding system into a car.

</font>[/QUOTE]I agree...100%. It's just my personal oppinion, I'm not trying to put anyone down for using TA, it's just something I don't believe in, like zippers to the Amish, there EVIL.

the thing that I don't like is that it only helps one seat, in competition both seats should sound good. I understand that not a lot of people buy systems to compete and figure, "who cares what the passenger seat sounds like" but why spend all kinds of money on a system that doesn't sound top-of-the-line?

Hehe, who was it that said installing a system in a car is like installing a system in a bathroom? I love that, that's pretty accurate.

I guess Steve Cornel, Mark Eldridge, Scott buwalda, Mark Liggett, Larry Chijzner, Gary Biggs, and Mark Turner (To name just a few) are cheaters who cant get there cars right? Give me a break.. All of these cars sound great in both seats and all use time alignment in some way.

Of course there use of it is very small and usually only done at the final stage of tuning..

If you use it properly the side effects are non existent because they dont use it to align the left side to the right side.. Which is contrary to most head unit manuals and most peoples miss information and miss understanding about it.

Honestly, Turners car isn't the end all of comp cars...I'm not the only person that thinks his car isn't that great...it sounds awesome from the driver's side no doubt about it, but unless he's changed the car around a bit it sounds like crap from the passenger side.

Did i say turners car was? Or is this your lame excuse for a response?

Actually other then the sub bass output it sounded fine from the passanger side.. I dont even think marc competed at local comps with it this past year (I could be wrong), wonder where you heard it then.
