Pioneer Premier Speakers = Awful Bass?
#21
Not to argue, but I get kind of weird about people who think 10" subs are "little". Pioneer makes a 10 inch subwoofer that handles 1000w RMS and 2500w Max, there's NOTHING little about that. Frankly speaking, unless you're going for competition level, bigger subs just take more space for very little SPL increase. And even then, Pioneer also happens to make a 12 inch monster that handles I believe 2500w RMS and 6000w Max.

remember many stock speakers are designed to be very efficient due to the limited power they will receive. Additionally, many use "weak" or small magnets to allow for a sloppier or "fatter" bass response. This tends to give the bass a more rounded and full sound compared to aftermarket, higher quality speakers with tighter more controlled bass. Most aftermarket manufacturers realize that additional subwoofers will be used these days and as such are not as concerned about having their mids do subwoofer duty. There are many component mids that will play low and clean though, my JBL GTI 6.5" play down to 50 hz and deliver very good bass from the doors...if I need them to...I don't, so i cross them at 70hz and let the sub do the rest.
