Haven't heard it, but it should sound like other Pioneers (just fine).

Lots of MP3, iPod and bluetooth gimmicks, seems to be the big draw for the product not SQ or SPL

very few SQ features for xover, EQ of only 3 bands, 3 4volt preouts, above average deck power of 22 watts.

seems pricey compared to other Pioneer decks that have good audio features

If your looking for a cheap HU with good bluetooth, this is the one, other than that IMO it sucks... My bro got the 7000BT (same as the premier except for the warranty and the built-in amp can be turn off), it sound good but the navigation is a real pain... Also, the one line display make it difficult to navigate when using MP3.

In the same price range there's a lot of better HU but not with bluetooth. For a good HU with good bluetooth you're looking at around 600$

it does appear to be 2nd high on the Pioneer lineup (seems like Pioneer as given up on those of us who value sound and sonic features in their audio systems and is now relying on gimmicks to sell products) remember Premier is also Pioneer so the lone SQ product in their main line is the deh-800prs (more expensive though)

assuming they are still available these Premier decks have features you want (though the p1 and p78 look dated)
dex-p9 (with the deq-p9) still a top dog
dex-p1r
dex-p78

Features to look for:
-EQ bands more is better there are models with 16 and 31 bands of EQ
- Parametric EQ is preferred by some
-Time alignment- delays the sound from individual channels so the sound produced arrives at the listeners ear at the same instant
- multiple pre-outputs (the higher the voltage of the output the easier it is to make big SPL
- SPL vehicles have issues with skipping so good tracking is vital

The customers goal here is function at the price point. (by the way I have one left only now). It has multiple preouts with high voltage (which you need as the system is fully amplified). It has IPOD and USB and built in Bluetooth. You can turn off the internal amp (which you are going to do as the system is all amplified). It is a solid unit that will do exactly what the customer needs at the price point he is looking at in his system ($300.00). Does he need a highly custom EQ, no he does not. Does he need to spend more money on a deck with more bells and whistles that he will probably not ring or blow, no. Rest assured that this is a good cd player for your application.
