Pionner DEH-P700BT

And no the Eclipse is far from garbage. It is a huge upgrade from the Pioneer is it's abilities and tonal response. However, it will take you way outside of the budget that you had set aside on your system. It would be my first choice in a superior system if your budget allowed you to upgrade. I used Eclipse myself and have for close to 15 years now.

Well the deck he is looking at is pricey (my opinion is it is pricey given what it does) due to its iPod and Bluetooth (I guess that's why it is #2 in the Pioneer lineup?) while the Eclipse CD7200 is inexpensive given what it does!
1)What do you want your CD player to do? This will answer the REAL question, $300+ might be inexpensive or way overpriced for what you need.
2) will you be using the receiver to power your speakers or do you have external amplifiers
3) have you upgraded your factory speakers
4) how much stereo do you want eventually (subs, front stage, HD radio, XM, Sirus, MP3, iPod, navigation, etc.)

1) I want my CD player to play Ipod functions but also has features so control sound, bass ect.
2) I have an external Amp
3) I have Mb Quarts top of the line
4) My main focus with my system is base, I want base that kicks hard not just loud sound, thats the main reason for upgrading my system, everything is based around the bass

The Pioneer Premier DEH-P700BT has dropped in price to $280.00. It's a nice product that has many features including 3X 4volts out, iPod control, and of course Bluetooth 2.0
I'm sure that ther's a dealer in your vicinity that would have both Pioneer & Eclipse for you to demo to see which one that you like the best.

After some thought the Pioneer is OK, not where it should be at its price (and models 2 years ago had better sound related features IMO). Give a couple other brands a looky loo and go with the one that meets your needs and price point. I have an Eclipse C7100 (last years model) and though it has QC issues I would consider the CD7200 (though compared to the Pioneer it is pricey). I would also give Clarion a look and Alpine too(Kenwood and JVC are often overlooked but they do well at their price point).

Wow got back from CES and I am behind the times, everyone is discontinuing their SQ HU (Clarion killed their DRZ9255, Pioneer killed the P9, Alpine killed the F#1) SQ HU are few and far between Pioneer Premier DEH800, Eclipse 7200, the Alpine (forgot the #)... so the overall price of HU should be coming down considerably now that they have eliminated those pesky unwanted features (EQ, TA, multiple channel outputs, 8v outputs, etc) ... not even enough of a difference to have a preference on most HU
