A question on subs and their differences
Lots of very serious home 2 channel systems have little to no bass below 50hz, and yet they are immencely musical. I'm also in agreement that $150 to $250 will buy a very competent sub.
Spending more than $1k on sub bass these days is silly....but then...there are lots of us silly people out there.

Most bass are produced from the the mid bass and punchiness is from bottom mid range. Sub should really be crossed no more than 50hz. If you do cross it at 50 hz and below, you'd noticed that many songs do not go all the way to the bottom and your sub is just sitting there barely doing anything.
