rear fill is useless or not

i have an article by tom nousain about this and it's very interesting what he says about it,I'LL try to scan it in the right format to show it to you guys.one thing he said (and I tried it)was to connect your speaker in the back in mono which bring all the sound in middle,so it help the front stage to be more centered, and you have to adjust your fader so you dont really hear you back speakers, just a hint of sound compared to the front and you will get the affect of middle staging or center channel

corey himmels van that i listened to in kasas, at the finals this year had a pair of kicker coaxials with a tone of rear delay, far more than simple mathematics would suggest to be correct, and it was the best sounding car ive ever heard, including eldridges 4-runner and all the winners in all the other classes. that van set a new standard for me and what is capable in a car, truck van or whatever. the guy that buil;t it was very forthcomin as to how and why he did it. he said that the stereo rear channels added 12-18 inches of depth, but also added that it added a ton of time in overall tuning. i have always said the rear fill is the devil, but that van made me think about it in a whloe different way than i used to

What newfinish said is what we tried in my Avenger. Had a pair of RF Power 3.5s in the rear getting a mono signal and yes, with them faded in just a little it did in fact help with height and solidify the center. With no delay or any extra processing though it didn't help my forward depth. Normally I don't recommend rear fill but for the advanced user, I think it can help if done right.

I had an Eclipse 3.5" speaker wired as a mono center in my Corsica (a friend built a half-arsed pro-logic type center channel processor for me). The 'image' wasn't goofed ... but it didn't really add anything. Plus, rear passengers thought it was retarded.
