I am currently building a sq setup and I already have a pair of infinity kappa perfect subs, along with a kicker kx600.1 amp. I am looking at running a set of infinty components up front in the kicks. They will be running off a alpine mrv-t320 (80x2). I have heard that doing without a set of speakers in the back can actually make things sound better? I am wondering if anyone has any opinions about this? This is all to be installed in a '96 sunfire Gt. Thanks

it depends on what you like... i'm runnin MB Q Premiums in the front off a PPI amp and i'm running the rears off the deck, but i turned the fader to like 80% front

i prefer have the rear.. i like the surround effect.

I'm anti rear-fill.
A good set of comps up front with lots of power to them is preferred.

I'm not a big fan of rearfill either, but it can be usefull in creating ambience to give a more "complete" sound

i run avi XL directs in my 2003 sunfire, no rear fill just a avi sls300 12" sub, deck power from a 9835 and using the electronic crossovers in 3way mode. and i cant say that i miss rear fill at all. sounds incredible.

My old car had rear fill via 2 8's and 2 6x9s for midbass... my pioneer component set up front covered the midrange/highs...

It got damn loud and sounded awsome...

The rear deck 'fill' is the last piece of install I'll complete in my new car after the front stage is finished....

I don't recommend rear speakers especially if a sub is involved.
If the subwoofer is in the trunk, the air pressure it creates will affect the rear speaker motion, ending up as though they're playing through a fan.
More often than not, when you have the occasional rear seat passanger, and music is playing, the most common thing you're bound to hear come from behind you is.., "What'd you say ? turn it down, I can't hear you" .
Furthermore, considering that we rely on treble for staging, imaging detail, and separation, and high frequencies will reflect off hard surfaces, especially glass, which by coincidence is curved towards you. So even with only front speakers you will get some rear fill, and the back passangers will hear fine. Consider this statement " The first rule of Italian driving is, what's behind is not important"!

I have a 98 sunfire gt, a nice set of AVI XL 5 1/4" components up front, and if you have the factory tweeter pods, staging is incredibly good, forget rear fill especially if your powering your fronts with a mrvt320. I'm also running 3-way off my alpine cda 9835, the ultimate in head unit control. Could almost compete with a little more sound deadening......
