So I guess I'm an SQL guy who needs a home...

Class D at high frequency subject had been beaten to death, as is not an issue. If you are a true experienced audiophile, you know how different sound characteristics are between D and AB. It's night and day!

The amp challenge is B.S. in my opinion. I know there are people who can't hear the difference from one amp to another, and I feel bad for them. But the issue should be is the difference noticeable enough to constitute the price differences.
Buy a good quality product designed for the purpose you need it to do and you should be fine.

I'm more concerned with the L in SQL than the SQ part.
I want to be able to play music, not tones, at loud volumes in my daily driver setup, and still have it sound good. Not amazing, just good.
dogstar - It needs to be a single mono amp, due to space restrictions.
fozzz - My Fosgate 750 just isn't enough. It's underrated and puts out about 1000W, but I'm looking to step up to an amp that is rated at 1000W and puts out more, but ALSO is stable down to 2 ohms, for when I add a second sub in the future. My current amp is only good down to 4 ohms.
You can see what I have for my front end in my signature. Again, nothing special, because I'm just looking to upgrade the bass at the moment. I will need to replace the 6x9s though I believe after that incident the other night...
As for "the right class D", what do you mean by that?
It's for the sub only under 200Hz.
I'm going to probably have to go with a class D amp due to space and efficiency restrictions. That US Amps 2000x is way too damn big...

If we set aside the size issue...
How would this thing sound? Loud and good?

You guys talk about sonic differences between amps as if one sounds like crap and the other f**ks your ears.... get over it.
Of course there are differences in sound... if there weren't we would all use amps from a company called "the amplifier company" and the only differences would be in size and power level.
I'd wager that 99% of you audiophiles couldn't tell me whether I have an A/B, D, T or any other class of amp in my trunk.
OP... get a nice compact class D thats going to put out at least 1200 watts and preferably more.
The much maligned elemental designs nine.1 is rated for 1200 @ 1 ohm and 12.5 volts... it does more... mine was doing almost 37 volts (1360 watts) at 13 volts at 1 ohm load.
I second the Mmats, I heard my first one last night and damn that thing puts out for such a small package.
Sundown get a bad rap with some people on here, but others have had great results... Cactus audio is apparently much the same gear.
