I've always been a big fan of ID products. Some of the better sounding stuff out there for sure.

I've owned quite a few ID products, including two IDQ10's, CTX6 coaxials, CSX54 Components, an IDQ15 v2, IDQ31 mono 31 band EQs, and I briefly had a pair of CD1Pro hlcd's.

Although ID seems to have a higher than average level of product problems, I'll always have a special place in my heart for ID [img]tongue.gif[/img]

I just called them today to get an RMA number, and they were very helpful, and easy to deal with over the phone. I asked the lady on the phone if they had lots of problems with CSX sets, and (obviously) she denied it. I found it kind of funny that when I told her I had a "component set that was defective", she immediatly said "just the mids?" [img]smile.gif[/img]

Unfortunatly the bad IDQ10 I had before was not covered under warantee (ebay).. so I was SOL. Hopefully they follow through, and the product I receive back will be 100% working properly.

Sounddomain is the only authorized source online for ID. The products we sell are factory new, as we recieve them from ID. We have also sold B-stock items, but they are labelled as such (unfortunately we discovered after someone complained that ID's idea of labelling B stock was to use a highlighter to highlight part of the part number... not very intuitive). We also sell open box items (you buy it, don't like it in the first 30 days you can send it back, typically people change their minds). Again, these are labelled the same way.

Sounddomain didn't get to where it is as far as getting authorized by doing bait and switch or selling new product and shipping used or refurbished products. If that was the reputation they had built, Infinity, Rockford, Mitek, Clarion and Blaupunkt to name a few big time brands would not have picked SD to represent them online.

OK, spamming over. Do a search on that product specifically. A midbass with an open voicecoil gap is an invitation for disaster in my book. On the other hand, I would run them in my own car as well, they are that nice.

I don't think the problem is with sounddomain, because I've seen many common complaints about ID products, and they have been purchased all over the internet, and audio shops.

I've always been pretty happy with Sounddomain's service. I think I've bought around four shipments worth of stuff from them. They were the first people I called regarding my chameleons, and they were kind enough to provide me with ID's contact information, and sent me another copy of my invoice, incase I lost mine.

When my first IDQ10 was defective (was a 'factory refurb' from sound domain), they took it back without any hassels, and refunded shipping costs. I was quite happy with the service at that time as well.

Second IDQ10 I bought was advertised 'as is' on ebay, so I took my chances, and was SOL [img]smile.gif[/img] .. I did use it for a little while, was able to get creative with a hot glue gun and a little bit of patience, but it was never quite in 'working condition'..

I've talked to other people who have had nothing but good luck with ID products, I guess it's just 'spotty' from a reliability standpoint. I guess that since they are a smaller company, things like good QC are more difficult to implement while staying profitable.

I still think the IDQ is one of the best subs I've ever heard, and still own one, even despite my troubles [img]smile.gif[/img]

I havent had much of a chance to play around with my IDQ15 v2 (D4) much yet, but from what I've seen so far, it should be an interesting SQ sub.. I was messing around with a 1.5cuft sealed enclosure, and it sounded fantastic. Didn't sound sloppy or boomy like most 15s I've heard, it was surprisingly tight sounding, and really brought the lower (below 30Hz) frequencies to life. Man, what an efficient sub too, with only 100 watts, it felt like all hell broke loose. (I'm an SQ guy, so 120db is a big shocker to me [img]smile.gif[/img] ) Cant wait to get it in the car.

 

I've had tons of ID stuff so far and no problems, maybe I'm just lucky. I've bought a pair of CTX's, two pair of IDQ 12's (first pair stolen) for my car and one IDQ 12 for the wife's car, come to think of it, that one's about 7 years old! I've got my eye on a pair of IDMAX's too.
