Thinking of upgrading my system on my 2002 mercedes clk 320 and the local audio installer advised me to run 8" subs in the rear deck(instead of the standard 6.5") along with my 2 10's in the trunk that i have already purchased. I will be running a mono amp and a 4-channel amp to power the subs and speakers. Just wondering if this setup would drown out the front speakers (1" tweerters, 6.5" and 2-way 4") with wayyy too much bass...btw, he is supplying me the 8" subs as they happen to be "lying around". Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanx

 

I would stick to just the pair of 10s.

 

btw, forgot to mention that either way i have to buy the speakers whether it be 6.5's or 8's....would the 8's throw my sound stage way y off?..sorry bout the noob questions

 

Begs the question why you have to buy the speakers....personally I would leave the rear empty, run the 10s in the trunk in a good enclosure and listen to how it sounds before I put anything back there......

A 3 way front stage and subs shouldn't need any help from the rear if it is properly setup and tuned.....sounds like your guy is trying to off the 8s on the first person with $$ who walks by....
