I do plan on test driving everything before install. I will prob put tweeters in pods with woofers. There's quite a dash overhang and I will prob do component pods in doors and sub pods in kicks. Again it is somewhat function following form and I do have a design in mind. There may soon be a new thread asking for any f glass tips once I get started. I have it all planned out in my head.

But I've heard funky things like guys mixing sand in with resin and adding non drying sculpting clay to inside of pod after to deaden. Both these things theoretically make sense, but is the trouble worth it?:dunno: I was also thinking of getting roll on deadener and doing stick on over that. Pointless? :dunno: Just do two layers of dynamat? I was thinking that roll on would get right into any crevices, but structure is usually stronger/stiffer there anyway.

Thanks again

Oh look, a UTI ad for training to be an AUTO TECH:smokin:

Turns out that's a real thing. Oh yeah I think it's professionally referred to as an automotive service technician.

Maybe our buddies that work in their back yards are mechanics. There's a lot more to cars than there used to be. :)

Just bein a dikk. Lol. I mean nothin by it.

Doesn't mean you're an installer, but you claim to be that too...

Just being a bish..

Lotsa ways to build pods. I have used concrete and concrete epoxy as well to build in some mass.

Securing them to the car chassis is a good idea too. When judging IASCA, we use to like to grab ahold of (amongst other things!!) kick-panel pods and give them a good shaking....... enuf to move the car chassis. A loose kick panel can cause driving/safety issues. Car audio isn't that important to put yourself in that sort of situation. I use to HATE pods that obstructed my view of the outside world or that were loose. Loose is not only unsafe but blows chunks from a sound staging point of view. How do you tune that sort of thing !?!?!?

Thanks junkinthetrunk. I like things solid. I'm not going to do some hack work on my brand new(well when I bought it, it was) car. Obviously you want to hear the speaker not the enclosure. I've seen some budget sub boxes that do almost as moch excursion as the sub. Lol.

Dose anybody know of any SQ judges or competitors on Vancouver Island that are on this site? I would really appreciate any hands on type input/help with design.

Thanks again.

Dikk and I would be more then happy to fly out, if you pay for all the expenses. We are the top two gurus in Canada right now on stuff.

Lol, thanks, but if I could afford that I'd have all the time in the world to play around and get it right. There was an SQ comp locally last year. I guess I just go out and ask for some tips and pointers.

One day.
