I have this whole folder full of pics of my car. Here is a nice pic of the trunk where you can see the rane's.
The install is just very clean all around. I wanted to have the eq's inside the car, but it would take way to long to rebuild or modify the console. But that's fine, the trunk mount makes for better tuning because you don't get lost just randomly moving sliders looking for "That Sound"
Just a thoery.
And they are not for sale, especially not for $60. Did you have a set of these?

BootlegGuy, those Ranes look really sweet in your trunk. What do you think of their sound quality as compared to a digital eq such as the OrionDEQ30??? I have the DEQ30 in my trunk and love it.

They are probably a little better, but the difference would be so small that we couldn't hear a differnce. They are both peices that dominated the competition scene.

Boy my computer goes down and wo. Is the amp still for sale? I have no place for it just checking...No one is a dummy here some like to show and some don't. But at the same time don't promise to be some place and don't show. Look at it this way if we didn't have these computers how could we vent/ trade our ideas and or products ect. I for one love audio and personaly think SQ is it! At the same time I've done a Db or two it's just diferent but the same right? Let's put the gloves down and enjoy the moments we can life's to short other wise. Just my thinking. Oh James thanks for a good season lets expand across the country and play! See you at Worlds. And for all you who care I by luck and timing placed 3rd for SQ and 2nd in Idbl and we still had great fun. There is and will allways be some one to better me but I had a GREAT time

I love this board, lots of good information here. Pretty much any question I have had has been answered. Obviously not everyone is a guru, but hey, that's why they are here.. I certainly don't know everything, and I'm always looking to learn a thing or two.

Once my system is finished, I'd probably like to go to some comps, but I put it together more for my own personal enjoyment. I like SQ, I find it challenging (not that SPL is not challenging) and a lot of fun. I tend to think that SPL (especially recently) has been getting much more attention than SQ. Most manufacturers seem to be releasing more and more products catering to SPL. I've seen so many 1000W+ subs coming out in the last year or so compared to the past. I could be wrong, but this is the general idea that I've been getting.

SPL has always got more attention than SQ...I think it has to do with the age group that's getting into car audio...who buys car audio? Usually...young men or women that have just got thier licence so like 17-18 right? They've heard thier buddie's 87 Cutlass with 2 10's and a Boss amp and thought it was cool, so they want something louder....and all of a sudden they've found some wicked deals on decent equipment and then they hear about IDBL or DBDrag and they wanna try it so DBDrag events flourish.

Nobody cares about hearing music instead of headache inducing bass anymore.

I will always be an SQ guy because I enjoy music and I like my ability to hear.

Hey, lemonlime, how do you like that new Nak CD-400? Should I trade in my DRX-9255?

I agree with Slingshot, SPL is definately more popular than SQ due to the very young age of car drivers today. But, it was SQ which originally started the entire car audio industry.
I love SQ and love to listen to my classical and jazz cd's in my SQ car.

What I think would be interesting is to see more cars done up to do both SQ and SPL....

Rob(LBKC) is right now on the verge of having such a setup.

His Colt right now with a little bit of tweeking measures pretty good on the SQ mike. And at the same time...well....we all know how frickin' loud the thing is..

Would it be a thought to encourage more people to do as such?

I for one would like to see something like that..maybe even a class to itself one day...

My 2 cents...

I like the "SQL" idea...I always have...that is one of the reasons why I LOVE compression horns. There loud and they sound good.

Because lets face it, there's some songs that just don't sound right unless your volume **** is dialed. ei: anything by AC/DC.

I hate bass that over powers the rest of the music but I also like to have plenty of bass because when music is recorded it has bass in one form or another. Imaging is my main concern with most systems though. If I can get my music loud and clean with perfect staging, then I'm happy.

I also strongly believe that a single, high quality, 12" sub should be able to produce enough bass to make anyone happy while still sounding good.

In fact I'd go as far to say that even a single mid quality 12 when powered properly and loaded in it's optimal box, should be plenty of bass.
