Thanks. I'm using the Y7 block. Might do the minime depending on the condition of the head that's coming (used of course). Was looking for a Z6 or Y8 intake manifold and found one that came with a VTECH head for a reasonable price. Wasn't planning on doing a minime but since I'll have a head sitting there, might redo that head and drop it on later in the summer. Thanks for the recommendation. I was looking at the Si tranny for the bigger bearings etc. The LS diff will come at a later date.

The audio system has a long way to go. All the components are there. Just need a good install. Most of what's in there now is for learning. Also taking time to do this install helps find tweaks tests and listening then trying something different. This is my first SQ install. I'm pretty much on my own. Tried asking for help at my local shop and got a basic sales pitch and then a blow off. Fine. I'll do it with CCA's help. That local shop will get very little of my money from now on.

how is the 12w3? I am looking at getting the 13w3v3 and want to make sure that output is good in this sized car (mines actually a bit bigger)
I have heard they sound great and blend very smoothly.
How big is that box? For the 2Z speaker the recomended sealed box is 1.75. I am flexible for space but wonder why its larger then the 4 Ohm model at 1.5

I haven't experimented much with the 12W3V3 other than a sealed box. I like the sound. But then again the last sub I had in a car was a Fosgate Power 12 back in '95 so it's hard to compare with anything current.

Don't recall the cu/ft off the top of my head but I remember checking the volume and making sure it matched what JL suggested at the time I purchased. I don't currently have mid bass so the sub is cut at 80Hz. It kicks nicely and still gets the lows. Some songs I need to set the cutoff to 63Hz. Actually wish there was a 70Hz cut. That would be a good all round sound for my setup. Tested the sub for spl and hit 137 at 60hz. 135 at 50hz. I like 50hz. Stuff vibrates under my car. Think it's the exhaust pipe.

IMO one sub in a sealed box with the right power will be plenty of bass. Right now I have to turn the sub down otherwise it drowns out the mids.

I was playing some SQ tracks with the sub turned off. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the system sounded without a sub. From then on, when I want to listen to real SQ, I turn the sub down another 4db or so. You'll be surprised at the little details you will hear.
