SQ sub

ok i have a 02 grand caravan and im going into SQ setup. I am starting my project next summer so i am getting ready and getting some info early. What i was thinking for the speakers are energy comp for front and rear with 2 MTX 2 channel amp. But my question and would like opnions on a sub and amp that would be great for SQ and still be able to play loud.

Heres what i can get around northern ontario ( alpine, clarion, MTX, rockford, energy, polk, memphis, jbl, infinity, fusion, pioneer the cheap stuff, sony blah, Phoenix gold, audiopipe, massive, might be more but dont know where lol) and also how to setup the sub in the rear end ( facing foreward or back) best type of enclosure also. any help would be appretiated thanks

MTX has some well-built amps, but i'd stay away from their speakers and subs if you're going for SQ. I personally run Polk Audio gear from their Signature Reference line and let me assure you that they perform extremely well when matched up with an amp that can deliver a good amount of clean power- you will definitely not be disappointed. The SR124 (12") or SR104 (10") subwoofers are excellent SQ subs. I have 2 12's (although only one would have been sufficient) because I sometimes like a good amount of bump in my music. But honestly, I personally think they are the smoothest woofers I've heard... they blend in really nicely with my components.

But don't just depend on other people's opinions as they are subjective. The best thing to do is to listen to as much gear as you can, and at the end of the day, trust your own ear's judgment. If you're REALLY into SQ, you might also want to consider a good processor.

CDT subs are great SQ subs too...
I had an SQ-1200 and I'm replacing that with a pair of the new 12" subs that are coming out.

Sounded really great...

Their speakers are very detailed too if you're not set yet on what you're getting. Plus, I think for the price you can get them at, it's hard to beat.

As for enclosure type, if you're going SQ, a nice sealed enclosure will be your best bet.

I did a ton of testing before I settled with an AVI SLS-300 great woofer hits super low and takes a gob of power.

When it comes to the sub, you can get great SQ without spending a lot. All MTX is fine. The best box would have to be a ported one. hehe

Basically the most important thing for a sub's sq IMO is:
1: Enclosure
2: Power
3: Xover

All those companies will give you satisfaction. You should be basing your decision on power rating, ohm rating, sensitivity, space requirements, cosmetics, and most of all value.
