2 JL Audio 12W0's in a sealed box
or
2 Kaption competition's 12" in a ported box

I can get both of these for the same price... they will be used in a BMW 3-Series. The amp I will be running is either my JBL 600.1 or my Zapco AG250.

12W0's:

W0's or CV Vega's? Are those your only two options? I'd rather have W1's than W0's, that's bottom of the JL barrel.

unfortunately those are the only two sets of 12's I can get in a box for a decent price right now... (very decent price mind you).

I can also get a couple 10W0's in a sealed box for $80.

So I'm kind of torn on what I should do. Those pictures above are of the actual subs + box's I can get.

Ehh...listen to them both. Pick the one that fits your needs and listening tastes better.

is one any better than the other though?... (keep in mind the W0's are in a sealed JL-Audio box... the Kapton's are ported)

or are they both pretty much garbage and I should save my cash for something good?

I don't need loud... I need clear. Which is so difficult with BMW's sealed trunk. Luckily I have a ski-bag to get some of the sound into the cabin. Not a lot of sound travels though.. so I guess I require the power to compensate for this..

Those are Cerwin Vega, Vega series not Kaption Comp's.

I would take the Vega's over the 12W0's. Those Vega's are a better built sub and have more potential.

The ski hole should give pretty good venting into the cabin. If you have factory speakers in the rear deck taking them out will help this also.

ah true... I just emailed the guy. He said the pic is old... the Vega's are no longer in there.. he's selling that same box, but with Kaption Competition 12's in the box. Still better than the W0's?

I don't have any experience with the Kaptions but a friend of mine has two 10W0's in a JL Spec sealed box in his accord and it sounds great. It's not gonna win any competitions or anything, but for what he paid I think it was a steal.

my friend W1's are not better than W0's, they are actually worse. They are both rated at 125 rms but the W0's has jl's patent vrc or whatever its called technology and the W1's don't.i had the w1's.SQ is the same but W0's can handle more abuse

Can't say I'm a big fan of either driver really.
For their price point they're fine but I would rather see you save a bit of cash and get something you won't feel the need to upgrade anytime soon.

I would seriously look into this setup from Yuli.
http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/ubb/...c;f=2;t=006337

He's in your area and might be willing to let you hear it if you ask nice.
It would be louder and sound better than those other choices.
If you liked the sound of it you could then sell your 600.1 and in the end you would have a louder, cleaner bass end without costing you much more cash than a lesser choice such as the ones you listed.
