your 7 minute presentation is the most important 7 minutes in competition, for those 7 minutes, it doesnt matter what products you have, but more so the reason why you have them
For USACi and IASCA this is definately true, why you selected the stuff is key, is there a theme, special features, forced cooling etc.
USACi does reward 'branding' as chev2 pointed out but it can be overcome

For the listening portion the judge should be unaffected by the brands of equipment in the vehicle (true for all sanctioning bodies).

I have judged many shows in the pass..... It really depends on the judges. I know for me it doesn't matter what head unit or what super amp & speakers you have or not..... If it sounds good you'll get a good score.

^^^ That is the exact discription of a bad judge!

But for the install judge..... the amps should be symetry, if not.. you could install it in a way they look that way under plexi windows etc. otherwise you'll get ding for it.

^ If you do not go you do not learn, it isn’t about winning vs. loosing... it is about listening, learning and progressing, all the great grand champs were newbs at some point even those that bought show winners.

so if i told you that i compete with a radio shack c.d. player going to a learjet 10 band 1/2 din 400 watt booster eq, then off to my legacy 3way xover, and off to one 600watt pyramid amp and two rockwood 1200 watt amps for the subs which are a pair of 12 inch mobile authority, and 6.5 inch components in the door are from visonik. tell me, you aint gonna be just a little bit biased? oh and i have a pair of pioneer tune up tweeters on the dash run off my monster booster/eq.

SQ competitors say many things, some are even true , never judge a book by the brand name (sometimes things are not as they appear)
