Tweaking my system: do it on my HU or get a processor?
I recently had a system installed, and I'm extremely happy with it, even though I didn't do any of the labour. I drive a '90 Toyota 4runner, which is built as a rock crawler... it's definitely not my daily driver.
I got a customer sealed & seperated enclosure made in the rear cargo area to hold my two Kaption Audio CL series 12" subs.
For power I'm running two amps: a 1000RMS Kaption for my subs, and a 300RMS Kaption for my front stage, which consists of 4" Alpine coaxials (in my dash), and a 6.5" Infiniti mids in my doors mounted onto a custom panel.
For my head unit, I'm running a CDA-9857 (which I'm pretty dissapointed with).
Everything sounds great, except for some overwhelming brightness in my front stage at hi volumes.
I will be exchanging my deck soon. Mostly because I find I do not have enough control over my sound. Maybe this is oldschool, but I like having factory presets like Jazz, Rock, etc. and also a few user saved presets which my current HU doesn’t provide.
I am almost 100% decided on the Premier DEH-P880PRS HU. Will this help me improve sound quality, and also customize the sound for my vehicle? I’m really not into frills and gimmicks (like all the fancy screens etc.) and this HU seems to be a nice fit for what I want to do.
What do you all think? Should I keep my Alpine and get a separate sound processor? What is involved in the wiring of that in addition to my HU?

lol
I don't listen to music while I wheel... the deck is always turned off. I drive it around town, and every once in a while to work when I can't use my girlfriends car. I guess I do use it daily, but I try not to drive it far.
Regardless, its my "pleasure vehicle" so... why the hell not?
