Upgrading from JL amp to Audison or Zapco?

Would it make much of a difference if I upgrade my JL 300/2 Slash amp to say Audison VRx series or Zapco Reference?

I'll be getting a set of Focal Be No 6 in a week and I plan on using the amp to run active.

Thanks for your suggestions.

JL's amps are good but cant compare to audison, let alone zapco, nothing wrong with either choice in my mind.

Either of those series of amps will give good power for the Be's. I wouldn't go with anything less. Hooking a JL amp to the beryilliums is the sort of thing that deserves an *** whoopin'.

Check out Steg too, or Focal's Dual Monitor amplifier. The dual monitor is programmable so you can tune and time delay the speakers from a laptop.

..sorry, didn't get a chance to to finish and when i came back it wouldn't let me edit, I'm not at all disagreeing with the above posters, but those statements are like saying "Apples are way better than oranges"......how can you give a statement like that without some backup facts, who's going to run out and spend $1k on amps cuz "4 dudes on the forum said so"....it only made me laugh in the same way I do when someone types stuff like "better can be had for the money" yet never lists what those "better" products are.....

I'm curious to know why those are better choice as I am amp shopping as well.

if answering a question like this by just listing an opinion without anything stating why you feel that way is the way one makes a bigish dollar investment, a poll would have been a more effective way....just my opinion of course.

cuz u get mad sq with those amps. you know it. you're just jealous cuz u just got yourself a set of jl amps and didn't spend yo money on high end . plus, you got to be running focal to get sq, not legatia, what's that?
you're automatically disqualified from even remotely being close to the answer regarding this topic. Sorry Al .
You just wouldn't understand. Neither would I.

If I was to get something expensive, that'd be zapco dc amps. i'm very intrigued by their offering. The amps would be the last thing to change for me imho. JLs aren't flea-market stuff.

To the OP:
If you have the JL and can get either Audison and Zapco in at the same time, do so and compare yourself. If you do hear the difference, choose the ones that you like. If you stick with JL, you will only be uncool with some people, cuz in their mind it's insane to run something less than Audison or the like with Focal be level stuff. hehehe.

LOL...now that was funny, and yes i got JL cuz thats i could afford, i certainly wanted to get Zapco ref's......thanx for rubbing that in, i'm poor dammit, we all cant be young computer wizzzzezz....lol...I'm far from a JL fan, there several names I'd like to try but simply cant afford to....but the answers above still make cringe with frustration.

dont be picking on my Legatia's, just cuz they are sitting in 4 inch pvc pipe and the tweeter strip caulked to my A pillar doesn't mean anything, other than the tubular sound and having to pick up the tweet every once in awhile doesn't they suck....lol

to the original poster, sorry for crapping a little on your thread....I am also waiting to hear so good opinions on the amps you're asking about.....if this were a poll I'd pick the zapco Ref's ....(and im not saying why)

I can only try out the Zapco amp but not Audison, or at least not easily with Audison. I like the ability to play with the Zapco and hooking it up to a PC to set everything up. Question is, Zapco is digital amp so doesn't it do another D/A conversion? Less D/A conversion is better IMO.

Thanks.

I would also throw Arc and DLS into the mix of nice sounding amps. I think going from that nice JL amp to Audison or Zapco may not necessarily be better/worse. Depending on your choice of music, and personal taste for sound. You may find that all three amps sound completely different on the same speakers. I am very curious for you! Please chime in later with your choice and impressions.

I didnt feel like typing for ten minutes with facts about amps. You want the best SQ even if they are over a grand, Zapco, audison and focal.
