I wonder if anyone has the opportunity to compare a C-7 and the new Thesis ....hmmmm

Now that would be an interesting head-to-head...

ie, if Alpine decides to use (modified )SS revelator technology for its F#1 Status components, so be it, and if they charge you $3500 USD for a component set which's parts you can source for $1000 so be it also.
Yes but those custom drivers don't come with the excellent crossovers of the Alpine set, which isn't a big deal if you are going all active, but otherwise the crossover makes or breaks a component set. </font>[/QUOTE]The crossover is the only real difference that I could see between the Revs and the Alpine's.... other than the baskets on the midrange's. I was quite impressed with the F#1 set, except I found my ears became fatigued after a while from the tweets. Not sure if maybe it was the crossover point or lack of proccessing but I never a huge fan of the tweets.....even on the Rev set i didn't like them after about an hour of listening time.

there are more differences than the X-overs on the F#1 line but they are not very noticeable. much like the PG TI elite line that is sourced from Morel but redesigned by PG (yes, they did Mod those drivers).
DWVW, i do agree that to compensate for those X-overs you would have to spend some serious lab design time to beat them, but that is possible too especially given custom applications (heck, if you've just spend $3k in speakers, what's another $1000 for the ultimate X-over?

Don't feel bad for paying a way cheaper price for those raw drivers, unless you feel better spending many times more for a nice box with cool graphics for that component set. But true, lots of time and money can go into a quality component sets passive xover. But if you are going active, there is no point paying all that just for a piece you won't use.

I had to check...I was getting tired of the wrong prices getting thrown around.

R2904-7000 Ring Radiator $520 each

12M/4631G00 4" Revelator mid $280 each

18W/4531G00 7" Revelator midbass $270 each

So by my count, without taxes or shipping we are over $2100 in raw drivers.

So people please, stop saying the F#1 status drivers are under $1000, because they aren't.

I'm not sure whether I made myself clear or not, but I'm not interested in building a set of crossovers...I could care less about that, I'm going active, what my question was about was the quality of the in-expensive drivers off Solen or Madisound. I've never heard of some of the companies they sell such as Silver Flute or ATC....some of those companies sell VERY cheap drivers, so I'm wondering what the quality would be like from an 18 dollar tweeter for example....keep in mind that I know install is 90% of the quality.

I think he was talking about the 2 way set, which can be had for under a grand last time I checked my catologue.
