WOW, huge difference... runs better than it has in a LONG time, valves are re-seated, machined head is on, and everything is sweet. scraped about 1/4" of carbon off the inside of my intake manifold, which I think helped a little. now for more gear!!!!

man, you really gotta take care of your engine better. There's some issue's if you got that much carbon on the intake.

At least the 2.2 isn't as prone to breaking down as the 2.3 Quad 4. What a wicked motor that Quad 4 is, ANOTHER superb job by GM. :rolleyes:

the valves were shot we figure it was blowback through them, so things should be much better now!!

ahh, ok...what was wrong with the valves?

Usually it's a timing belt that breaks or chain slips and a piston will come up and hit the valve and bend it so it stays open...Or closed...then you get your missfires...or did the engine totally quit on you?

the head was warped, and the valves were too, they just had to be seated properly back into their spots. when we had the head pressure tested, they said that the valves were leaking.

I'm dropping a 3.8 where the 2.2 used to be in my Cavalier..should be intersting...then I'm gonna head over to the scap yard to see if I can walk out with the superchager they have there for it.

I think I may have to also steal the computer that's in the grand prix they have there.

It'd be the first time, I've done anything like that, except the Chevette/327 swap.

Should be interesting...there's a company in Toronto that does exactly what I wanna do, but you gotta have a series 2 3.8 to do the supercharger, but what you can do with the series 1 is run turbos on it without much trouble as it's the same motor as in the Grand National...only problem with turbo's is the lag, which can be cured with a 25 shot of spray once you find what RPM you get the lag at.

Biggest problem will be changing the motor mounts since they have to be arc welded and I'm not the best arc welder, I'm ok, but I'm more of a TIG guy. However even though you should do it anyway, you won't need to brace the frame as the cavs came with v-6's....2.8 and 3.1

If it works out for me, I'll give you a hand doing yours.

Just a quick story....I was driving down the road behind an 89 cav with the supercharged SeriesII and a Bonneville SSEI went smokin by, so buddy with the cav dropped into second gear(5 speed on that motor works good) and lit the tires at 70Kmph.

3.8's and cavs work well together. :D
