if you going to build a cube like box, use a "brace" in the middle (a big one) angled at 45 degrees, that breaks up something called "standing waves" inside the box, which GREATLY helps clarity and a little SPL. Bracing keeps the box solid againest flexing. Flexing is really bad

peerless xls for car 12" is very tight and deep sealed in .9 cubic foot and can take a beating [img]graemlins/bow.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/jammin.gif[/img]

Seriously I have heard the current Rockford drivers and they can SQ well and they thump. If you want to be extremely loud and have great SQ then that thins the selections. I would add the BIG JBL’s (Gti series) and the new Memphis LVS driver in the mix.
I have heard the GTi and the LVS in SQ systems and they sounded good! I have also enjoyed the JL W6 in some 140+dB systems.
