where to start with sound deadner?

I own a 2001 sentra 1.8 (Which, I'm sure you know is exactly the same chassis as you)
With ~50 ft^2 I did:
A layer on both the inner and outer door skins (2 front doors)
Sealed the rear deck (No rear fill for me)
Behind/on the back of the license plate
Trunk lid and a bit of the trunk floor
I would do it in that order, as its what made largest sound difference. Although if you have a large amount of power going to the sub, you'll probably want more on the trunk.
Also do the 'Big 3' if you haven't already.
Unless you dont care about 'how fast your car is', I would go light on the sound deadener if I had a Spec v. 100ft^2 is probably alot more then you'll need. All that weight adds up, and the Spec v's are already heavy.
If you haven't already done so, get a header for your car other wise your pre-cat will destroy your car (if it hasn't already) http://www.b15u.com/troubleshooting-...screw-faq.html

hey thanks, ya 100sq ft might be alot but i found a decent price for some fat mat for 100sq ft. i think it will only add like 30 lbs or so, its not too bad. the big 3 i still have to do and i did get a header for my car but thats after i already had the motor rebuilt due to alot of oil consumption and all the other crap, so ya no pre cat failure this time around

DnK,
I noticed a big increase in mid-bass quantity, quality, and low frequency extension. Vocals become full and have a lot of presence after sound deadener was put into the doors. Bass attack became sharp and clear.
Your 6.5's will need less power to output the same volume, as much more of the speaker energy will not be wasted in panel vibration. Combined with a clean amp, you will be surprised at how good your set of door speakers can sound. I added a bit more deadener right around the speaker to help mass-load that area.
The best thing to convince yourself is to just do it. Do one door and give it a listen.
I don't regret all the time and work to put in the 2 types of deadener in my doors. I don't think 100 sq. feet for a whole car is too much... the small amount of added weight is worth it! :P
Let us know what you think after your Fat Mat application.
