1. Do you have the cash for a sub?
2. Do you listen to anything other than audio books?

If you answered yes, get a sub. Out of curiosity, why are you looking at shallow subs? The ones I have seen are pricier and dont go as low as their full size brethren. Besides, Jetta trunks are big!

1. I do have the cash to add a simple system
2. I do listen to audiobooks!! But not all the time

I have bought a pioneer 12 inch championship series sub and will be putting it in a sealed box powered by a alpine mrp m500 amp

Yes its not ideal. But gotta start somewhere!

pioneer dont sound bad at all anything lower than champion does tho.. its a good start.... if u can build a box to spec it would be even better tho.. and maybe one day u can try it ported.. more boom for ur buck once u go bass hungry lol

Ill start with the enclosed and then look into getting a spec'd box. Is it a problem to change boxes after an install??

no unscrew the sub and swap it to the new one...

also with the box u are gonna have u can allways add some polyfill to see what kind of sound u will like better. try without and then try with 1lb or so of polyfill since im sure that the box will be the approx 1cube size..
