ChinaMan, good to hear you got a listen. It helps bring some perspective to what is possible in hi-fi.

So.....what did you think of the tweeters?

what i did pay attention to is the driver placement i feel there design is flawed
from improper driver placement i feel that there is an improper phase tilt which causes a poor driver time alignement
and poor imagery and staging
he need to move his tweeter back 1.5 inches
i wish he had consulted me before finalizing his design
sad thing is i have told him so many times and he dosn't listen
i feel it has to do with fliud buildup in his ear which causes him to offset his eqilibriaum and he always auditions his speakers with he head tilted to the right
causing him to create crossovers that phase corrilate to correct this

Oh they released them finnally eh?

Yea the Alexandria is what I'm talking about....the last time I saw them they were still in prototype stage.

Why doesn't Wilson still make the WAMM series?

Adam, the tweeters? In such high end setups like that, I don't hear tweeters. I don't hear the mids, or the woofers either. It basically just sounded as one unit and I could not differentiate the drivers. The vocals were accurate - not only sound quality, but positioning/staging/imaging. What I'm trying to say is... the speakers were not there. And I know this doesn't really answer your question, but I would probably say the tweeters sounded phenomenal... ?

Brandon, from what Audio Ex tells me (John Caulk - cool cool guy if you ever go to that shop)all the Alexandrias were pre-sold. Every single one that was destined for anywhere in the world was apparently sold before they were available so they never ended up in the show rooms. One Wilson I'm dying to see and hear at the upcoming CES! Can't wait - that is, if it's going to be there.... and about the WAMM? Dunno!

Brandon, they do make them. It's a custom deal, with the final installation being done by a Wilson tech. That's why they don't list them, as people who contact the dealer will go through the appropriate channels.

At one point though, the technologies and materials employed in the other lines edged over-all performance very close to that of the old design of the WAMM. At that point, a redesign occured. Even then, the other speakers sold so well and compared so close to the WAMM, that continuing to invest in promoting the WAMM was not viable.

They exist if you really want one.

Adam

I'd love a set, just don't have $225K laying around right now...hang on lemme check my pockets......nope, sure don't.
Do you think the same will happen with the MAXX?

It looks awefully close to the X-1.But somehow I don't think the MAXX get's the same kind of attention that the X-1's do....the MAXX seems to me like just a cheaper, lighter version of the X-1/Alexandria.
