2 12's or 3?

Should I go with 2 12" subs at 500watts or 3 12's at 750 watts?
the subs are Kaption spl's at 400watts rms and 800watts peak.

Well I guess that would depend on how much bass is adequate for you, how much room you have to spare for an enclosure, and what amplifier you will be using.
