I just purchased an 2001 Escape for the wife an children. It has the C/D+ cassette in it. For now I was planing on leaving it as is. Any 1 have any luck upgraiding the speakers and or adding an sub to this? How about an alarm starter combo?

For the people who know my collection, now the Escort will begin an slow restoration/ modification for my oldest boy. And my wifes old Aerostar van becomes mine! seats 7 with air. It will pull the Mini most any were. Any ideas?

try looking at cardomain.com there are a lot of escapes there.

my only qualm with that vehicle (as i am driving one) is that i dont know how to make a kickpod as the kicks on the drivers side houses the fusebox.

i have yet to see an escape that uses kickpods.

Hey Mini Steve,

My GF has a 2001 Escape XLT. It came from the factory with a six disc in dash cd changer/AM/FM stereo, front component set (5-1/4" in the bottom of the doors and tweets at the top of the doors by the side view mirror) and a factory 6-1/2" sub hidden behind the rear cargo areas' passenger side panel.

For a factory system it sounded pretty good, but it was definitely missing something.

So I convinced her to add a small amp and a one farad capacitor (which we mounted behind the same panel that covered the factory sub), and a single 12" sub in a ported box.

The system is somewhat stealthy and very user friendly due to the fact that the amp and cap are hidden from view and the box doesn’t take up much room in the cargo area plus it is removable when you need to transport large objects.

Both her and I were extremely pleased with the results (after some tweaking and tuning of course!) and have enjoyed it for the last two years without any issues.

If you have the same front speaker set up you may want to consider this option, as the highs from Ford's component set are easy to blend with a good quality aftermarket sub.

Just use your ears and let them tell you whether or not adding a sub is all you need to do.

Best of luck and let me know what you decide or if you have any questions.

Mike

Thanks Mike. That kinda the answer I was looking for. All my wife wants is an player that works and sound good. Go figure it has to do both! As for move the fuse box, any thing can be done. But is it worth the time and efort! Like my Mini had no system at all. All of it was scratch built with no plans or steeling ideas from others Mini's.

But sadly to say the dealership is trying to scam 1 on me. I'll need to go straighten this out or not take the SUV. Good thing I haven't taken possession yet. Any way this is the type of wheels she wants. So now I have more info to go with. Thanks guys. Any more?? or answers/ suggestions.
