2002 Mazda Protegé amp install

I just wired up an MTX 4 channel amp using the high-level inputs from the factory deck. The amp works but every time I turn off the car and turn it on again, I have no sound, from any speakers (including the factory radio). But as soon as I unplug the high-level input plug from the amplifier, sound comes back.

What am I doing wrong?

Any help is appreciated. Going to try a few things in the meantime.
Thanks

Ummm.... Did you run speaker wire from the amp to the speaks and disconnect the factory speaker wires completely from the speaks?

Yeah sounds like your speakers need some power

Ok, but is it running off of deck power or amp power? You asked a question and apparently resolved it without us having any real details

Sounds like he's straight into the amp with no speakers. He also found the common solution.

^^^This sentence makes me laugh, actually... <-- See? I laughed there.

If you unplug your input source, you should have NO sound... But w/e right? It makes noise.
