8guage ---> 12guage in my install wtf?

Hi all, me again heh the noob. Um , i just looked under my hood for the first time since my install. I noticed they spliced some 8guage to 12guage(the 12 holds the fuse)

Im not electronics expert but wouldnt that defeat the purpose of using 8g in an install and up the impedance on the line? Ill post a pic in a sec got to get it off the camera.

Thanks.

scotia

Pic...

The superflow wire you can see its 8, the red stuff you cant, but its stamped right on it 12guage.

Im so pissed. I went to reputable shop for a reason. I lose faith in retailers daily.

I would go back and demand them put an agu fuse holder in there with a fuse to protect the wire,like a 40-50 amp that is as long as the amp has its own fuses or you have a fuse block to protect the amp.

The 8 to 12 is pretty shady as far as im concerned,its not like you cant get those fuse holders in 8 awg version,they prolly ran out and never thought you would notice.

that looks more like 10ga not 12
but i would definitly redo it in at least 8ga to match the rest, if you are only driving 150w rms it will be fine, but if you plan to upgrade you will want at least 4 ga anyway.

zzzzzzz is right

and you think they would at least drill a hole in the batt cover so that it can be installed back on properly, instead of just sticking up

A short run of 10awg mated up to 8awg isn't going to make much difference........ but they probably should have used 8awg down the entire line if you paid for an 8awg wire install...... But I am sure they probably wanted to cheap out with the fuse holder.....

go back and see if they'll change it if its buggin you......
