update time!!

so here is what i have found out!

A) grand-ams and db's don't mix well
B) my peak is at about 41-42hz
C) I was able to get a 146.98 on a burp (i didn't break 147 but i came really close), not what i was hoping for
D) my gains still aren't set a 100% correctly (i will figure it out one time ;0 )
E) my box flexes like a mother
F) time for a new box! (6th order will be the next one to go in)

 

the cars peak doesnt help EVERY box i have had in ours had peaked at 32 or 34 no matter what the tunning was

 

you do realize your subs are chocking big time, right?

that's cuz you are not tunning the box right. i know you probably saying how do i know, and the reason i know is b/c if you were doing it right you wouldnt be saying what you said.

port tuning is only FINE tuning, majority of how the box is tunned depends on it's size. port tuning will NOT change the peak as much as you are trying to change it. you have to make a box much smaller.

 

not sure how to really say this so ill just say it lols

as much as i want my car to be loud i would also like it to play music well right now becasue of my 2 "peaks" i find it pretty good for music

 

Being that i am elbows deap in a trunk build in a 96 grand am 4 door i have to ask some questions.1-How much power are you using?2-whats your ohm rise?3-what other styles of box have you tried?The amp i'm using was clamped @ 88 watts rms with 11 ohm rise on a full out burp and was tuned to 59hrz.I hit a certified 138.8 db on term lab with one 12 rear facing with a 14 cubic inch square port in a 2 cubic foot box.Ill have some pic's up very soon.Im very interested in sharing some idea's back and forth.

 

Hey I am using 5k rms on these subs and rise I didn't look into that I was a bit unimpressed with how this all turned out and yes I knew that from the get go these subs are being chocked out lol silly small grand am lol

And this is the only style of box I have tried in this car a 4th order down firing. I have a few other ideas for boxes but I am going to get these reconed to 12s first and go from there
