You guys have been most helpful! Thanks

I'll go with the 60A for now til I get the other amp installed.

I understand it's to protect the main wire but say I have 100A fuse and a voltage spike occurs or wire gets shorted won't the volts just shoot past that fuse (being under 100A) and hit the amp? That is when the fuse on the amp would pop? but if the spike is over the rating on the amp won't it just blow the amp fuse then fry the amp?

usually if you have a spike in voltage, the fuse you put close to the battery would blow. And beyond that fuse like the wire going to your amp will see no voltage. Because the fuse at the the battery blew first. And stops the current from flowing to your amp.

the 60 amp will work fine, the fuse is just to protect the wire from getting too hot if somehting shorts out a 60a will blow well before 4 gauge wire will get hot.

as for your ground problem the easiet way is always to ground to something solid near your amp try to find something under your liner in the truck also check out the spare tire well

Ben.

yeah i found a good ground connection behind the carpet. i have a antenna in the back for radio and it comes down to the body to make it not move. And there was 2 screws holding it on. So i took out one and sanded the paint off behind it and put my ground connection there. Just find anything that has a screw and it is attached to the body. and you could use it.

Went to the battery and havent looked back.

I can find video that shows why grounding to the battery is potentially bad. If I have absolutely nothing better to do I might look for it.

In my experience I have never grounded a system to the battery. Further to that I have never seen relocating a ground to the battery solve a noise issue.

I didnt say noise i said standing voltage. And if its so bad why does everyone in DBdrag who knows what they are doing wire directly to the battery ground? Also what is so potentially bad?
