Question 95 Toyota Avalon sub install w/ factory deck

Hey,

Been reading here for a while but this is my first post as I just registered today. Pretty confused about all this stuff like how to hook up an amp to the factory deck.

When I took the dash off and pulled the radio out a bit there was this connector that looked like there could be somthing plugged into it. It had like 20 hole in it and seemed like it had all these same wires going to it that were going coming out of the actual radio. Do I have to get one of those "wire harness things" to hook it up. Or do I have to cut wires and stuff to hook an amp up?

I dont want to hook up the amp to the 4 door speakers as it should be loud enough off the factory deck. There is also some kind of theft deterrent thing for the radio and it says if I unplug it it wont work unless I get Toyota to reset it. Will I run into problems because of this?

Thanks for your guys help ahead of time, Devan

I didn't unplug it if thats what you thought i meant, I just meant I had the radio pulled out a little bit but didn't unplug anything LOL.

So what do i hook up the amp then from the deck? or just a hijack off of one on the speaker wires going o one of the door speakers?

I'm going with Methodman here. Find yourself a shop, somewhere smaller, local. Get the guy to do the install and maybe show you a little bit while he's in there. You get what you want and learn a little about your setup at the same time. That way, in the future, you know what's going on and how you can fix it.
