amp install to factory deck install in a magnum help please

hi everyone
ive installed about 20 different systems in 20 different cars but had the crappiest sounding system of all time in my magnum,,,i installed a memphis amp and woofer to my factory headunit,,,used a stinger low level adapter to hookup the rca wires,,4 gauge power and ground,,,,sounded like crap,,,had the same woofer and amp in my pontiac vibe and it sounded like a million bucks(but with an aftermarket deck),,,,the only thing i did different was ground the amp dirrectly to the battery since its in the trunk already.....should i have grounded it dirrectly to a part on the chassis???is doing it directly to the battery not a good idea???i thought i would take the easy road but it didnt pay off

Yes, going directly to the battery if its there is your best bet. It's sometimes hard I found tuning a system with low level converter. Gotta play with gains on it, gains on amp, gains on deck..all at once..kinda easier with 2 people.

Check that you have made the connections for the converter correctly.

I would get a clean sweep,or any audio control produtct

can i ask when the volume is turned up does the base fade away,Can't remember if the magnum has that feat to reduce the base as the volume goes up.

You can get that new re-q from MTX to stop from losing your bass at higher volumes.
"Most factory stereos, even premium systems, protect speakers by reducing bass output when the volume is turned up. That's OK in a stock system, but this limitation will hamper low-frequency performance if you want to upgrade your factory stereo with amplifiers and subwoofers.

The MTX reQ senses the input level from the factory stereo, adding more bass at high volume levels, while keeping bass response balanced when the volume is low. Now you can keep your factory stereo and its steering wheel controls while truly improving the sound.

The re-Q wires up to the speaker outputs of your factory stereo, and its stereo and subwoofer preamp outputs connect to your amplifiers. You'll find individual gain controls for the right, left, and sub outputs, plus low-pass and subsonic filters for maximizing your sub's performance. A bass enhancement switch lets you kick in a little more bump if you desire."
