as for running new wire...i was just going to soder the ends of my new wires to the ends of the old wires and just pull em though...unless some one gives me a reason as to why i shouldnt do that....and i hope i dont have to make an mdf ring since i dont really have anything to cut mdf with...all im working with is a dremel and a drill......i asked some freind on another forum and they said a 2.5" mounting depth will fit in the door without any mods, lets just hope they are right....

1 hour in removing and re-installing door panels (I didn't have the proper tools, I could have saved at least 1/2 an hour here)
what proper tools?

I just hate throwing a wrench into the works for you, and again I've never worked on a 2000accord, but you can bet the stock speaker wires are wraped up good in a whole bundle of other wires that will make it very difficult to pull your new ones that way.
There may even be a molex that connects the bundle b/w the door and body, I don't know.
For us diy'ers sometime we have to adapt as we go along.

Take a look with the car door open. Does the wire boot go straight across from body to door? If there's a big offset, more dificult.
How low does the boot enter the body? The better the access there the easier.

You might want to start a new thread in Install and maybe the pros will tip you off on the best way for your accord.

Proper tool = window crank remover. With one, I could have had the cranks off in 30 seconds, but I didn't buy one so each crank took me 10 - 15 minutes of fussing with narrow flat head and needle nose pliers.

Again, agreed with fever on pulling the wires through the door (the portion that took me 2 hours) I needed to use the existing wires as a fish line, but they were tight in there. My car is a base model so the speaker wires were the only thing running through the housing and it was still a tonne of wriggling coaxing to get the wires through.
As for the factory wires, I left them in. I did this incase I want to get rid of the car before its dead - I simply pop the factory speakers in, connect the harness and I'm good to go. One less hassle to worry about when re-selling the car.

well got my speakers and ampkit in the mail this morning....just waiting on the delivery of the brown bread and then its on baby. good idea about keeping the stock wires in there "just in case"....im thinking im going to need more speaker wire then what they included in the kit...im mounting my crossovers in the trunk along with my amp (i was told this was a good idea inorder to avoid electrical interference)so ill prolly need double the speaker wire....should be a challenge but im up for it.

Good to hear you got your cf's. You sound like your gearing up to go!

Where are you planning to mount the tweets?

i plan on mounting the tweets in the stock location on the dash....flush mounting them on the stock grill, or using the bracket thats in there for the stock tweet for a stealth install....those are my choices....im not going to drill a hole in my door thats for sure....what do you think, stealth or flushmount?

Well stealth is always good. That way you save the grille. Tough part can be getting them mounted well in the exact stock location. But it can be done. You'll know better after having a look.

Does the grille come off without mucking with the dash too much?
