So I revisted today and it left me very frustrated. I went in and had them listen to what was wrong. I had them listened to my balanced sound (mainly rear speakers ) then brought it back even, then turned off the tweeters in the EQ which makes the problem in the mid plain.

Well they took it back and about an hour later the boss of the place comes out and explains there is nothing wrong with the wiring or install. Which I found hard to believe. Then he starts explaining how the because of how deep my speaker is in my door and how far away it is from the grille and cabin the mids are cancelling sound out before it reaches me. He RTA'ed it and the graph showed a flat mid response EXCEPT at 500Hz where it dips and then recovers by 800Hz/1.3KHz.

I kept trying to make it clear that the mids sounded perfect before the crossovers and tweeters got put in. I just needed the new tweets in to stop the horrible noise the factory ones made. but everytime I would make this point he would shove it away.

Anyways, overall he tried boosting the mid range especially the 500Hz area to compensate until I can get my speakers remounted. It sounds ok now but I can tell its just covering up the problem..... not fixing it. I fear a hardware problem somewhere. Everything points to a hardware problem only cuz the mids like I said sounded great before the crossovers and tweets went in.

Remember you're used to all of the midrange and none of the treble (before the tweeters went in). I'm happy he actually used the RTA on it. The dip in midrange could be a characteristic of the speakers themselves or the car. With the head unit you have you should able to play with the time alignment (or run the auto EQ wit hthe microphone) and it should account for most of the issues from here.

Its true im not use to the treble but it got toned down to sound good now. Its just lacking mid now. Even my friends scratch there head and go somethings not right here and when you put your ear next to the mid it still sounds muffled. The balancing of the EQ was mainly a cover up that half successed imo. It could be a mounting issue, or a damaged mid I am being told but if that is the sound I get from the speaker and it is normal I want nothing to do with it anymore

So I did the auto eq this last weekend and to my surprise the curve ended up to be almost equal to what Radio Doctor had set with me. I don't wait it did with time alignment but it felt like the sub lagged a bit after autoing. Still not happy with the sound so I went ahead and got a pair of Polk Audio MM 6501 speakers to test my theory. Got them for $175 on crutchfield as it was a clearance.
I wanted to get a pair of Boston Acoustic SR60s after listening to them in a friends car, I was in love with its sound but since BA is no longer in the car audio business the closest ( according to massive amounts of reviews ) were these Polk speakers I got. Will have a friend help install them since now Radio doctor wants $450 bucks to install them and sound deaden the doors which I paid to have done in the first place.

It is weird. I was expecting a change of some kind. Sorry for the bad english in the last post I was dead tired that day. Anyways, I will be able to test my theory with my new speakers in a couple of weeks. If this does not work I will give into the possibility of an impossible sound stage by GM.
I was also taken a back by the quote Radio Doctor gave me to install these speakers. Not sure where they pulled 4 hours of work of which is the majority of the cost.

Could any of my issues be related to the actual deck? Where it has network mode and standard mode. I'm setup in standard node right and that is how my speaker configuration is too, but this deck has a active network mode as well. I assume that the only way I use the DSP and Burr Brown DACs would be if I use network mode as the DACs and used for High, Mid, and Low frequency ranges respectively.

the active network is made to eliminate the passive crossovers that came with the speakers. While the ideal scenario is to do this it takes hours on hours on hours to tune. I have my car dialed in this way (probably 60-70 hours of fiddling), but my truck that I have running active still sounds like and I can't get it where I want it to be. I think you need to play with your equalizer some more and see if you can get back what you think is missing, or take down some of what you dont like.

Oh ok, so the DSPs are active either or?
Anyways, I fiddled with my HPF (Front and Rear) setting the slopes to PASS, and knocking the crossover all down to 50 Hz, and knocked my subs LPF up to 100Hz. Sub is now even better than before! Yay! Loving it. Speakers sound a tad better too but still a bit more hushed vs the sub especially with my music on my USB drive.
Played with the TA a bit by turning it off listening for awhile and then turned it back after I realized the music was not that great with it off. The deck will not let me play with the TA settings until I auto TA it. Which then made me realize .... oh all I did was auto EQ not both..... oops. I am counting on it being a much better sounding system once the TA is setup correctly for my car, and the new speakers are installed that will take advantage of my amps power.
