Alpine set-up??

Hey all, new here and not sure if this is the right place to post this up...Anyway, I have a 2000 Honda Civic SI and want to buy 2 amps, 2 subs and a new speaker set-up

A friend of mine recommended alpine, here's what I was thinking of getting:

2 alpine pdx 1.1000 amps
2 alpine 10 inch type r subs
Alpine 6.5 midrange tweeter speaker kit

Would this be a good set-up? Really need some advice here...thanks

Hey, I can't really help much since my stuff isn't installed yet but I just bought a PDX 1.1000 and 1 12" Type X sub as well as a PDX 4.100 with the TypeX Reference Series 6.5" comp set.

Not sure why you would use a 1.1000 for speakers?

the pdx 1.1000 is a sub amp, and has limited frequency response..up to 200 hz only..so it's unusable for mid/high frequencies. You need a 4.100, 4.150, 2.150, etc... as they are full range. Other than that, Alpine has excellent equipment, and very reliable, though those pdx amps are a little pricey.

If you are looking to buy, I picked mine up on E-bay last week (I tried to buy local, looked at many stores, but couldn't come ANYWHERE near the pricing of E-bay, and with the price of gas, my Turbo V8 needs all the gas money I can get...)

PM me and I can let you know the seller I bought from, very fast shipping and good/new product.

Wow, I've never been more confused in my life

Can anyone recommend me some kind of set-up that is fair priced but that is very loud, preferably by Alpine or JL

stick with what you picked except get rid of one of the 1.1000's (they are for subs only(mono)), and get the 2.150, good to go.

Okay thanks alot, but the 2.150 only gives out 150 watts??? This doesn't sound like much compared to the 1.1000

I assumed the 1.1000's would be loud as hell, because I'd have one for each sub...But like I said, I know little to nothing about this stuff

Thanks again

absolutely, you can have one 1.1000 to each sub, we (or I) were under the impression that you were somehow going to power the 6.5's with a 1.1000, so, you're not powering the front speakers then?

You dont need 2 1.1000 for your subs. If you had 2 type X subs, then yes, but one will do for 2 type r. Mine does 1208 watts rms, so 600/sub is close to the rms rating for the Type Rs

No I just want to power the subs with 2 pdx 1.1000's, as for the speakers, I was told I didn't need an amp for them, but if I did want one, a friend said I could buy a 4 channel amp, but said it wasn't necessary
