I gotta quetsion about my current install and was wondering you guys can help. I am currently running 2 amps setup like this

4 ga - distro block - 2 8 ga output for each amp.

Now i want to upgrade one amp to a monoblock amp but it says that it needs a 4 GA input. Can I use a 8 GA input for the monoblock or do i REALLY need a 4 GA. Keep in mind that the amp will mostly likely be only 250 - 300 rms.

If I do need a 4GA input, any recommendations?

What is the max current rating for the monoblock and the other amp you will be running in your car. Depepnding on that you can have diff possibilities!

 

My amp for internal speakers is 4 X 75 rms and then the monoblock will be 250 rms 800 max. hope that helps

 

I meant what is the max current in amps (or fuse rating on the amps. This way you will know the max current going to each amp and thus how large wires you'll need going to the distributor and thereafter.

BTW, I pm'd you about the tweeters, just pm me back when you have a chance.

 

Also depends on the legnth of your 8g run. Keep it short, and you'll be fine going from the distro to your amp.

 

250-300 RMS, with a D class amp, 10 guage is fine, 8 guage is lots.
