This is a good resource for how to wire to subs up
Rockford Fosgate® - Woofer WiringWizard

Something to be aware of, amps that make the same power at many different impedences usually make a bit less power at lower impendance IE: 4 ohms will make a bit more then 2ohm. Can't say for sure with the JL.

I also recommend keeping same size subs and branmodel: different speakers sizes and brand\model are ok if they are not playing the same frequency range.

Lazy,

You've gotten all the info you've asked for, you've gotten reccomendations. I've provided you with sources to gain further knowledge yourself You've been answered abou withing dual 2ohm subs into the JL amp..I've even given away their technology and how it works.. If that isn't enough info for you..you are more than welcome to guy ask the guy with the bumpin system at Tim Hortons for advice.

Earlier I asked you to simply state what you wanted and why (2 sentences) now you have added a lot of info and I still cant say anything as I have no idea what you really want (but I know you dont want a sub that hums (whatever that means)).

As ideas are sent your way you have shot them down with more information than we thought you had (since you claim noob status) so you obviously have something in mind that you haven't really shared. Again this leads me back to the same question 'what is the ideal system you have heard?'

If you want an additional subs to what you already have I would recommend they be the same brand/ model. With your research (on line videos) I am genuinely puzzled at your selection of eBay products over other products available on eBay though. The Eclipse sub mr2nr recomended was a good match to the music you mentioned though and it does everything well like a JL w6.
ok i know im lazy... but i do my homework.... and you are right i dont know what i want exactly if i knew i wont be here.... obviously... the thing is... im upgrading my wiring soon, and i will be able to hook up my old amp and the jl i got recently, i know jl can do more then 450 im using, so i want to use my current sub (12inch Visonik 450rms competition sub DVC 4ohms each) with my old amp (Visonik 400rms or whatever it is) and get something new for the jl.... i was thinking about getting a different size so i can pick up wider range... but if the waves will hit destructive interference ... then i guess its a bad idea... the thing is i had 3 subs from some friends hooked up to this amp- 2X10inch jl, and 1X12inch pioneer, and they worked fine, just i dont want to have 4 speakers in my trunk (its rather impossible), i recently tried that jl with the custom box and it didnt pound much (had less pound then my Visonik) thats why i dont want to get another sub like this... since i got the visonik for cheap and it works rilly good then i thought i dont have to spend much on another one, all i want is if possible to get wider range my sweet spot currently ends at 40-50Hz after that doesn't pick up so well... so i want to have some power up to 80Hz if not i guess i can go for some extra pounding with another 12 (by that i mean continuous bass- im listening to music with lots of basslines).... budget is not relevant since the prices change dramatically when comparing ebay to retail ... but lets say up to $400 on a retail store for just the driver($150 before shipping on ebay- yes i can find you subs that cost $120 on ebay and same fing sub costs $400+ in store)... i know the box is important, i prefer enclosed but im not limited to it... i can pick up any box after i buy the driver....i donno how more clear i can make what im looking for...

It seems that no matter what anyone says to you, you will do whatever you had in mind to begin with..so do that...it'll sound amazing.. add a 10" alpine type S in a sealed box along with your visonik and make sure they are pointed right at each other for supreme effect.

If you have different brands or models of subwoofers in your car, the general populace (or greater proletariat) will laugh at you and therefore feel better about themselves

:] funny cuz i did run 3 subs before that i have mentioned, and they sounded pretty good (if the box is common yeh it will sound like ) ... oh and yeah its a crime cuz they dont match with color and make the INSIDE of my trunk look tacky.... lol
well thnx for advice, but i wont throw out the visonik cuz i want another driver in my trunk... simply cuz it will double the cost....
cheers guys

P.s> wait i forgot i can spray paint them... like purple or something... then they will match... PERFECTLY

lazyluke- well I will compliment you on ingenuity and doing things with a desire to be different while being a serious cheep skate.

Your ideas, should they work will produce inferior results. Sometimes you have to listen to people who depend on their years of knowledge and formal education to satisfy customers. You reject the shop owners as rip off artists, not really they keep the car audio industry alive literally. I too am a proponent of eBay but for finding unique and used products. The new stuff is being unloaded by middle men and unethical people and it is being done in a way that puts people out of work (manufacturers, retailer, installers) and it is occasionally stolen, more often obsolete, and sometimes it is B stock (let the buyer beware).

I too take issue with retailers on occasion as there are folks in the industry more concerned with the sale than with the customer needs. But sometimes you just have to pay the nice man.

Really cant fault the guy. He's new and it's a learning process. We've all done it, when I first started out I had 3 different types of amps and 2 different HOME stereo soeakers in the back of my Ford LTD wagon LOL! Money is not always easy to come by at a young age, the internet has made it much easier to get knowledge than ever before though. Give him time, he'll learn. He reminds me of the young guys that come to the gym and want to look huge and ripped but dont know how to eat, know nothing about the drugs, and have no money at all. They use a few catch phrases, and actually make fun of ME when I try and give them advice LOL! Keep at it John, you'll get there brother.
