okay i just removed my 2 ohm factory back speakers ( 6 by 9) and i put my 80 watt 4 ohm 6 by 9's in they hook up diferently. the connector doens't hook up what type of adaptor do i need? i prob will get an amp but i would like to see how they hook up on their own to see if they are okay. do i need this if i am getting an amp? amp : 200 watt rockford p200.2 anyone? thanks

 

you didn't even post what speakers you have?

edit: nm, read it to fast. I am pretty sure that you are gonna have to cut that connector off the tip of the wires comming from the hu and then you will need some connectors that can be bought at target/napa/ace/pretty much any place ($3-6 for a box of the connectors).

 

Usually a vehicle manufacture will use there own wiring harness for there speakers and such. You can use the factory wiring but you might have to cut off the end of the factory connector and use some spade terminals to connect to the speaker.

*NOTE* Leave about 3" of wires on the end of the factory connector that way if for any reason you have to switch back to the factory setup you can just use a butt connector or solder to connect it back up.

Not sure if that helps you or not.

BTW: What kinda car are you installing the speakers on?

 

oooo, he hit everything i forgot ta say. although I don't think they are spade terminals. I don't know the actual name but there is a female and male terminal and ya stick one into the other for an easy connection. You will need the female terminals for the end of your factory wires. OR I think you can by adapters off of cardomain that connect to your factory wire and will have pos and neg labeled so you can hook the wires strait up to the speaker. I think.

 

Correct on the spade terminals, the ones that I was trying to refer to were the quick disconnects.
